England Premier League
Saturday 17th February 2024
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Match Preview:
For now Tottenham’s season is all about finishing in the top four and that isn’t a guarantee. The club's recent form has been good with no defeats in their last five but draws at this stage mean that they are still losing ground to the top three and are 5 points shy of Arsenal. Despite what has felt like a solid season the Londoners are still 7 points behind league leaders Liverpool and that includes an early season win over the Reds. Last weekend Tottenham beat Brighton 2-1 at home and recently they have also had a win over Brentford and drawn 2-2 away to Everton.
At home Tottenham has the fifth best record with 27 points won from a possible 36 and they have won their last five in a row here. Tottenham cannot move up a place even with a win however if they were to lose or even draw they could lose 4th place to Aston Villa depending on how they get on when they play Fulham on the same day.
Wolves' form has become inconsistent and patchy and with 32 points at this stage of the season the club will be safe but may end up with no European football. It is all well if one week they can go to Chelsea and win 4-2 but to follow that up with a 2-0 loss at home to Brentford suggests a very unpredictable and unbalanced side. The club has the chance to go past Chelsea though and away from home they are unbeaten in their last 3 games, so that is encouraging given that they have lost 50% of their matches on the road so far.
Team News:
Tottenham: Giovanni Lo Celso is nearing a return and will be assessed for fitness issues. Manor Soloman is still a month away from a return as he recovers from a knee injury. Ryan Sessegnon remains out with a hamstring injury
Wolves: Hwang Hee-Chan has a chance to be included in the squad after being away on international duty and having suffered a calf injury, he will be assessed. Matheus Cunha is out with a hamstring injury
Tottenham vs Wolves Head to Head:
Last season Tottenham won this fixture 1-0.
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Wolves won 2-1.
3 of the last four meetings have seen under 2.5 goals.
Tottenham vs Wolves Prediction:
This is a fixture which has no recent consistency for any side and we expect to see a free flowing and entertaining game. We know that Tottenham really need to be on their game and when the players are not 100% we soon see all of the team's shortcomings just like we have in previous seasons. However, Wolves are not hitting all of their marks even if they beat Chelsea recently away from home. Maybe that told us more of Chelsea’s mistakes than anything else and we should respect how solid Tottenham have been at home. They are odds on but a decent price to win here and we will take them on. There is a story that Heung Min-Son hurt his finger in a freak accident in Asi on international duty but he is being tipped to be fine and play here, and that is huge news for the club. Son and Richarlison have a lot of potential as teammates and we really need to see both players have a good run of games together. Do not fully discount Wolves but if Tottenham can get the first goal then we feel they will be able to control this game.
Tottenham vs Wolves Betting Tips:
