England Premier League
Sunday 16th May 2021
Kick off at 2:05pm BST
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Match Preview:
Tottenham may have a very outside chance of a top four finish but in reality this game is all about trying to qualify for the Europa League not the Champions League.
Interim manager Ryan Mason suffered his first loss in the league last week as Tottenham were defeated 3-1 by Leeds United away from home. This was disappointing following Tottenham’s 4-0 win over Sheffield United but also highlighted that as good as Tottenham’s performance was over the Blades it was a win against the bottom side in the league.
On paper Tottenham have a very good chance of winning their 17th game of the season and they would like to push themselves higher up the league table, they could move up 1 or 2 places depending on other results around them. At home Tottenham actually have the 3rd best record in the league with 9 wins but they have lost 5 times. Recent home form is good though and includes 4 wins from their last five games.
Wolves are in 12th place and the best place finish for the club realistically would be to pass Aston Villa and into 11th. Last weekend the club beat Brighton 2-1 in a dead rubber game but it ended 2 matches without a win. Despite not playing for anything and having some key injuries the club have surprisingly performed well on the road lately and have lost just once in their last five games. Their last away game ended in a draw against West Bromwich Albion.
Team News:
Tottenham: Tottenham have no new injury concerns coming into this game.
Wolves: Willy Boly is feeling the effects of Covid-19 and is a doubt for this game. Marcal, Pedro Neto are out long term. Raul Jimenez may return for the last game of the season after his serious head injury earlier in the season.
Tottenham vs Wolves Head to Head:
Last season this fixture was a 5 goal thriller which ended 3-2 to Wolves.
Earlier this season in the reverse fixture the clash ended 1-1.
The last 6 meetings in a row have seen both teams to score.
Tottenham vs Wolves Prediction:
We will back Tottenham to get back on track and win this game. The club have looked impressive at home lately and seem to feel comfortable here. There is talk of keeping Gareth Bale on loan for another season and you get the feeling that the Real Madrid player would welcome that. When Bale is happy he plays good football and we could maybe see him star once again in this game like he did against Sheffield United a few weeks back.
Tottenham look unpredictable away from home but they will fancy the win and they need it too. Wolves’ season is over, they won’t lie down but we don’t expect much from them in this game.
Tottenham vs Wolves Betting Tips:
Tottenham to beat Wolves at 1.50
Anytime goalscorer: Gareth Bale at 2.00
Tottenham to score 2+ goals at 1.66
