England Premier League
Saturday 27th April 2019
Kick off at 12.30pm BST
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Match Preview:
Tottenham’s last gasp win over Brighton in midweek cannot be underestimated especially as direct top 4 rivals Arsenal and Manchester United lost and Chelsea dropped another two points after drawing with Burnley. Tottenham come into this game in 3rd place on 70 points and are three clear of Chelsea, four points clear of Arsenal and 6 points clear of Manchester United.
On paper facing West Ham at home should be a shoe in, however The Hammers have known how to be a thorn in Tottenham’s side for some time. Also while the players and manager Mauricio Pochettino will deny it the clubs Champions League 1st leg semi-final which will be played three days after this game against Ajax will be on their minds.
Will players commit to all of those tackles during the West Ham game? It’s a valid question and if The Hammers can make the game physical and try to control the pace of the game this match could end up being much harder than it should be for Spurs.
Tottenham have won every game at their new home, 4 out of 4 in all competitions and are yet to concede a goal. Overall form is good.
West Ham are finishing the season the way they started it- very poor and they have gone 4 matches without a win. Their last game ended in a 2-2 draw against Leicester, although they were unfortunate not to win that game and even though they lost to Manchester United in the game before that, they were the better team. In short The Hammers are in poor form but have played good football in their last two games.
A once hopeful 7th place finish has gone and the club are 8 points behind that target. Away from home they have lost 10 of their 17 matches including losing their last 4 in a row.
Team News:
Tottenham: Moussa Sissoko is out with a groin strain, Serge Aurier is still out and Erik Lamela remains a doubt with his hamstring injury but could be assessed.
West Ham: Andy Carroll could well miss the rest of the season with his ankle injury. Aaron Cresswell has been pencilled in to be back for this game after receiving a knock. Javier Hernandez should be back after missing a couple of games with an ear infection. Manuel Lanzini looks set to miss this game with a groin injury. Samir Nasri might be assessed but looks likely to miss out with a calf injury.
Tottenham vs West Ham Head to Head:
Earlier this season Tottenham won the reverse fixture 3-1.
Last season this fixture ended 1-1.
Tottenham haven’t beaten West Ham when the home team for the last two games.
There is a 60% chance to see over 2.5 goals.
Tottenham vs West Ham Prediction:
Pochettino is set to ring some changes in light of the Ajax match and one player who certainly will be playing is Heung Min-Son, the on form South Korean player is suspended for the 1st leg of the Ajax match. Son scored 2 goals already against The Hammers this season, so could be a deciding factor. Tottenham are around 1.44 which just seems a little low given they have the Ajax game to play.
While West Ham can pose a threat, Tottenham have been able to put away goals against them recently and The Hammers have conceded 11 goals in their last five games. We think backing Tottenham to win on the handicap could be good value. They simply should have too much for this wasteful but battling West Ham side.
Tottenham vs West Ham Betting Tips:
Asian handicap (-1 Tottenham) at 1.625
Anytime goalscorer: Heung Min-Son at 1.72
Correct Score: Tottenham to win 2-0 or 3-1 at 8.00 and 11.00
