England Premier League
Sunday 20th March 2022
Kick off at 4:30pm GMT
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Match Preview:
The race for 4th place is at fever pitch now and we have two teams that are vying for that position. The game has become more complex for both sides given that 4th placed Arsenal won on Saturday. Tottenham have played the same games as the Gunners coming into this one but are six points behind and West Ham are also six points adrift but have played one game more. Whoever loses this match could well be out of the running so by far this is the game of the day in England.
Tottenham’s recent form is good with 3 wins from their last four with their latest game finishing in a 2-0 victory over Brighton. The club have had to play their last two matches away from home so they will be happy to be back in front of their home fans and of course recent memories are good ones after they beat Everton 5-0 here in their last game. However recent home form is not the best and Spurs have lost 2 of their last 3 games overall though it is 8 games won from 13 played so far.
West Ham will be buzzing after they knocked Sevilla out of the Europa League in midweek beating them 2-0 to win the tie 2-1 on aggregate and the club have come so far under David Moyes. Recent form could be better though with 8 points earned from the last 15, it isn’t the worst but when you are chasing 4th place it should be better. The Hammers did win their last league game though as they overcame Aston Villa winning 2-1 at home. On the road it’s been 3 games without victory for the club although in that time they have had to face both Manchester United and Liverpool. But it should be a concern that we have to go back to the beginning of the year for the last time West Ham won away from home.
Team News:
Tottenham: It is bad news for Japhet Tanganga who will now miss the rest of the season for the club after his knee injury. Ryan Sessegnon is not expected back for four weeks due to his hamstring and Olivier Skipp is about two weeks away from his groin injury.
West Ham: Jarrod Bowen is still missing due to his Achilles injury but should be back in the next two weeks. Vladimir Coufal is out with a hernia, Angelo Ogbonna is out long term with his knee.
Tottenham vs West Ham Head to Head:
The clubs last met here at the end of last year in the EFL Cup and Tottenham won 2-1.
Last season the league finished 3-3.
The last 0-0 between the sides was 11 years ago.
Tottenham vs West Ham Prediction:
It’s make or break time for both sides. Tottenham did play in midweek like West Ham although had 24 hours extra rest and their game was nowhere near as meaningful or tense as the Hammers. Tottenham being at home will be the favourites, though from history we know that West Ham can and will raise their game. The one worry with the Hammers could be fatigue and while we think technically and even playing toe to toe that Moyes West Ham side can live with Tottenham tiredness from quite a week at the club may just play its part here.
We will back Tottenham in a game where we can see the goals flowing. So we should be looking into a plethora of markets. Expect a lot of end to end play and opportunities for both sides. There could well be some controversies and this is a game that has a lot of potential to be talked about for days afterwards. So much is riding on the line but the home side should have enough in a fixture where there is no love lost, sit back and enjoy.
