Kick off at 4:30pm GMT
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Match Preview:
This London derby is a fierce one as all are but this has always had added tension to it with fans of each team really having a disdain for one another. Thankfully (not in a violent way) this carries on over to the pitch and these games can be very fast paced and full of incident.
Tottenham have certainly put their manager Antonio Conte through it this season where one week they have looked good enough to mount a title challenge and the next good enough to be playing in the Championship. Witness how they beat the champions Manchester City and then conceded 4 to Leicester. The worry for Tottenham is that they have lost 3 of their last 5 games and for this to be happening in February strikes of a club that have the quality of players and yet are underachieving however a top four place is still in their sights.
Tottenham are just 2 points behind Newcastle and if they have lost their game against Liverpool then they could go past the Magpies with a win on Sunday. At home it’s 7 games won and 4 lost and the club are yet to draw this season but they have lost 2 of their last 3 games here.
West Ham are in 16th place but are only two points from the bottom three but the good news is that the club have found some better form after a dreadful start and they have gone their last 3 games unbeaten. The last two have ended in draws and against quality sides too in Chelsea and Newcastle with both of those games ending 1-1. On the road is the real worry for David Moyes side though who have won just once and have earned just 6 points from a possible 33. Scoring goals has also been a problem with just 7 converted on the road.
Team News:
Tottenham: Rodrigo Bentancur has been a huge blow for the club as his knee injury has ruled him out for the season. Hugo Lloris’ knee injury means he is out for at least six weeks. Yves Bissouma is out with an ankle injury with no fixed return date, Ryan Sessegnon could miss the next six weeks due to his hamstring.
West Ham: Nayef Aguerd could return for this game but will be assessed first, Alphonese Areola is a doubt with a hamstring injury. Maxwell Cornet is missing with his calf, Lucas Paqueta is sidelined with a shoulder injury. Kurt Zouma is out with his hip but Gianluca Scamacca may return but has some fitness issues and will be assessed.
Tottenham vs West Ham Head to Head:
Last season Tottenham won this fixture 3-1.
The last 3 meetings have seen both teams to score.
There is a 60% chance to see over 2.5 goals.
Tottenham vs West Ham Prediction:
A red card could appear in this game, because of the derby but also because West Ham will give Tottenham problems and they need to respond after the way they lost to Leicester and we expect to see an open game. The pressure remains on Tottenham who do not want to see a top four chance go begging weeks before the end of the season. Conte’s side had to endure a midweek trip to Italy as they lost 1-0 to AC Milan in the Champions League but we don’t think that will affect them too much here.
This is a game between two sides with one of them finding consistency but in small steps in Moyes team and the other up and down form wise. We will back Tottenham to get the job done, they have improved in recent games against the Hammers. Keep an eye on Heung Min Son who is out of form for his club but has a good record of scoring against West Ham and is great value to bag a goal at the weekend.
Tottenham vs West Ham Betting Tips:
Tottenham to beat West Ham at 1.72
Anytime goalscorer: Heung Min Son at 2.75
