Tottenham vs West Ham: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League

Kick off at 8:15pm GMT
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Match Preview:

Tottenham ended a 3 game losing streak by drawing 3-3 with Manchester City in a cracking game at the weekend. While Tottenham played a great second half and matured as the game went on it is still four games without a win for a club who were a month ago flying high in first place. Tottenham come into this London derby in 5th place and are a cool 9 points behind league leaders and their bitter rivals Arsenal. However with a win there is a chance depending on other results that they could go back into the top four.

Recent form for Tottenham has fallen off and we would have to go back almost six weeks since they last won a game which came against Crystal Palace away from home. The hope will be that the club will have a spring in their step after coming back against Manchester City and if they replicate the hunger, passion and intelligence in their play that we witnessed in the second half of that game they will have few worries here. Home form was strong and they have won 4 of their six games played here but they have also lost their last two in a row with defeats against Chelsea and Aston Villa.

West Ham are not playing the most attractive football but they have gone undefeated for a month and have recently beaten Nottingham Forest and Burnley and last weekend they drew 1-1 at home to Crystal Palace. The Hammers are in 9th place with 21 points and already look too far off from a top four finish but their European qualification hopes are far from finished. On the road David Moyes side have managed to win 3 but also lose 3 and their recent away form is a concern with three defeats from their past four games however they did win their last away game. Overall the club has earned 10 points on the road from a possible 21.

Team News:

Tottenham: Eric Dier has a knock and will be assessed. There are long term injuries for the following players who will not make it back this year; James Maddison, Rodrigo Bentancur, Ashley Phillips, Ryan Sessegnon and Manor Soloman. Ivan Perisic is out for the season with a knee injury.

West Ham: There is only one injury concern for the Hammers with Michail Antonio who has a knee injury although it is not thought to be serious and he could return next week.

Tottenham vs West Ham Prediction:

We should see quite a frantic and exciting game that’s what we expect from a London derby but there is no secret that these two teams (at least the set of fans) do not like each other, and that will add to what should be an electrifying atmosphere. Tottenham have suffered lately but played some good football and West Ham have a string of positive results under their belt but haven’t played some of their free flowing football that we witnessed in some parts of last season.

Tottenham look like the more solid side and even though West Ham are having a decent season there is unrest at the club and the fans are still not happy with Moyes being in charge of them. Tottenham need to start winning games again and they can’t afford to drop more points as the teams above them move on. On the evidence of their fighting performance over the champions at the weekend we believe that they can come through this test and overwhelm their visitors.
