Tottenham vs Watford: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 29th August 2021
Kick off at 2pm BST
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Match Preview:

The big news for Tottenham ahead of this game is that Harry Kane is staying. It looked certain that Kane would be joining Manchester City at one point but with him under contract at Tottenham and Manchester City not meeting club owner Daniel Levy’s asking price Kane is staying put.

We continue with Kane because he played and scored 2 goals in midweek as Tottenham beat Portuguese side Pacos Ferriera to qualify for the new competition- the UEFA Conference League, so at least Tottenham will be playing European football for this season.

The London club have started the season in brilliant form having beaten the champions, Manchester City, on the opening weekend of the season they followed that up with a 1-0 victory over Wolves. That was a great return to his former club by Nuno Espirito Santo and they will face each other again in the next round of the EFL Cup.

Watford have had a mixed start to the season, as they beat Aston Villa but lost their next game away from home against Brighton 2-0. It could be that the Hornets will struggle on the road this season. There was an added bonus in midweek though when they knocked out fellow Premier League side Crystal Palace in the EFL Cup winning that 1-0.

Team News:

Tottenham: Joe Rodon is the only injury worry for the club as he has a knock there has been no updates but he looks likely he will miss this game.

Watford: Ben Foster is out with a hamstring injury, Dan Gosling is ill and will not now be back until after the international break. Juraj Kucka has a thigh injury but will be assessed for this game and remains 50/50 to play.

Tottenham vs Watford Head to Head:

The last time the teams played this fixture was back in 2019 and the game finished 1-1.

3 of the last four meetings have seen both teams to score.

Watford have beaten Tottenham just once from the last 18 meetings.

Tottenham vs Watford Prediction:

This game looks perfectly set up for Tottenham. They have started the season looking strong and we should also expect Harry Kane to start this one after his European exploits. Watford look like they will be good at home but could struggle on the road though of course it is early days for that but the evidently the better team by a stretch are Tottenham.

The fans will be happy so far by the clubs performances and Kane is going to be forgiven for wanting the move and it will be seen as water under the bridge. We expect Tottenham to get a few goals in this match, though they are around 1.44 to win, that will feel too short for most punters, so it might be worth opting for a handicap.

Tottenham vs Watford Betting Tips:

Asian handicap (-1 Tottenham) at 1.84

Anytime goalscorer: Harry Kane at 1.80
