Tottenham vs Watford: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 19th October 2019
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Match Preview:

The international break arguably came at the right time for Tottenham who were going through a genuine mini-crisis. Knocked out of the Carabao Cup, the club have lost 2 of their last 3 games and Bayern Munich scored 7 goals past them in the Champions League.

This has seen Tottenham fall to 9th place and Mauricio Pochettino’s future has even be called into doubt. Whilst it is evidently another season with no league title and possibly no cup trophies either, the club are still just 3 points from a top 4 spot. It could be much worse.

Their latest defeat at the hands of Brighton was not good though and it was the way they seemed to fall apart with the final score finishing 3-0 that suggested something is deeply wrong at the club. If they were to drop points at the weekend it would be a new low for a club that reached the Champions League final last season and had league title aspirations for this one.

Well a team do need to be at the bottom of the league and that one is Watford. Despite changing manager Watford have yet to win this season and have just 3 points after 8 games. They already need two wins to take them out of the bottom three and this game looks beyond them.

The Hornets drew their last game 0-0 against Sheffield United and away from home they have earned just 1 point from a possible 12 and scored just once and conceded 12. Nice symmetry there.

Team News:

Tottenham: Christian Eriksen has a dead leg but he should be fine to play. Hugo Lloris is out after his horrific arm injury v Brighton and will likely miss the rest of the year. Ryan Sessegnon still has fitness issues

Watford: Isaac Success is out with a groin injury. Etienne Capoue has a back injury. Sebastian Prodl is struggling with a knock

Tottenham vs Watford Head to Head:

Last season Tottenham won this fixture 2-1.

Tottenham have won the last 5 fixtures when at home against Watford.

3 of the last 4 league meetings has seen both teams to score.

Tottenham vs Watford Prediction:

This game tells us if Pochettino has a future at the club because Spurs were in meltdown before. Now they are at home against the worst team in the league who have scored 1 goal on the road. Everything points to a Tottenham victory, they have minimal injuries and have a brilliant squad at their disposal, but does the team want to play for the manager anymore? Does the manager want to be their? We will truly find out our answer on Saturday afternoon.
