Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Match Preview:
It’s been a chaotic season for Tottenham and yet it looked like it was going to be a solid one for the club who may have gone on to win a cup and finish in the top four. But everything seems to have fallen apart and it’s happened very quickly. First Antonio Conte could take no more and left, Tottenham continued to drop vital points and then last weekend they were destroyed by Newcastle 6-1, and were 5-0 down within the first 21 minutes. This defeat has more or less put paid to their top four hopes and then a day later caretaker manager Cristian Stellini was also sacked. Tottenham have no direction and have turned to their 3rd manager of the season in Ryan Mason. Mason of course was already at the club and at 31 he has managed the team before. This came back in April 2021 and he oversaw 7 games winning 4 and losing 3.
There are a lot of questions buzzing around the fans of a side who were looking like they were taking steps forward but football takes no prisoners and for now the club will be feeling down in the dumps. That got worse yesterday when they dropped to 6th place as Aston Villa beat Fulham, Tottenham would reclaim 5th place back with a win here. Recent form has witnessed back to back defeats coming into this game and just 5 points from their last 15. At home the club have been much stronger with 11 wins from 16 and they have won 4 of their last 5 games here but they did lose their last home game which came against Bournemouth.
Manchester United are fresh from reaching the FA Cup final as they overcame Brighton on penalties after that game had finished 0-0 after extra time. United are looking good for 4th place and they have a 5 point advantage over Aston Villa in 5th and have a huge 3 games in hand but if they were to lose here they might just look over their shoulders at Tottenham who would have a gap to United of 3 points but who would still have played two games more. Whichever way you look at it, it’s advantage for Erik ten Hag’s side for now but form hasn’t always been good enough.
Of course the Red Devils were recently knocked out of the Europa League against Sevilla and in the league they have lost to top four challengers Newcastle. But we cannot overlook how they have bounced back from the defeat against the Magpies and have won their last 3 games. In their last game they were able to beat Nottingham Forest 2-0. Overall the majority of results away from home for United has been wins although it is a close run with 7 wins but 6 defeats.
Team News:
Tottenham: Hugo Lloris will be assessed for a muscle injury but it isn’t thought to be serious. Yves Bissouma and Ryan Sessegnon remain sidelined long term and Emerson Royal is out for at least another 10 days due to a knee injury.
Manchester United: Bruno Fernandes is a doubt with a new ankle injury but he hasn’t officially been ruled out, Scott McTominay is a major doubt to recover from a knock. Raphael Varane looks like he will miss out with the same problem, Lisandro Martinez is out for the season with a foot injury.

Tottenham vs Man Utd Prediction:
It’s easy to have a go at Tottenham and for rival fans they would have sent meme jokes to each other the past week, such has been the circus at the club. But Tottenham and their players have pride and we think they can bounce back here against United despite having a poor record against them. Manchester United have collected 3 wins in a row recently but they haven’t been against a top sides and in general some of their play has been lacking and one has to wonder if these recent 3 wins have not glossed over a period which has been underwhelming for the club.
Tottenham are going to start fresh again and led by a determined Harry Kane we should be set to see a passionate and determined performance from them. Many punters will back United but we have to be cautious about their away form against the better quality clubs. We should be set to see a great game as the home fans will be expecting to see a positive response after the shell shock loss to Newcastle.
