England Premier League
Tuesday 14th May 2024
Kick off at 8pm BST
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Match Preview:
We could be looking at one of the most interesting matches for some time in the Premier League when these two teams meet on Tuesday. Tottenham’s top four hopes looked finished a week ago but since then they have been able to close the gap on Aston Villa. The odds that Tottenham can make a comeback and finish in fourth place are remote though given that they are 5 points behind Villa.
So what do they need to do? Tottenham would have to win this game and their last league game of the season and hope that Villa lost their last game away to Crystal Palace. Even a draw for Villa would ensure Tottenham’s failure given the plus 8 goal difference. In a sense this situation has been hard on Tottenham given that Villa at one point were losing 3-1 against Liverpool the day before this game but came back to draw 3-3 in an epic match. That point looks to have been a very significant one. Recent form for Tottenham has seen a poor return just when they needed to be at their best. The club has lost 4 of their last five games although they did manage to end that last weekend with an expected win at home to Burnley.
Manchester City have seen Arsenal go past them at the weekend as the Gunners beat Manchester United 1-0 away from home. Cynics would like to point out that United may not have played their best ever game, why would they want to help City? But at the same time United have not played really well all season. And to this game one could presume that if Tottenham did not put in a shift that would help derail Arsenal’s season. We have to believe that players play to a professional level but it would be churlish not to mention what is surely being thought of by the players and certainly the fans. Win this game and City would go 2 points clear at the top with everything hanging on the final day of the season. If City were to win well there is a chance that goal difference could be in their favour by next weekend and that would mean that City would only need to draw against West Ham at home. Form for Pep Guardiola’s side has been fantastic with 22 goals scored in their last five games alone, the club has exploded and at the very right time.
Team News:
Tottenham: Yves Bissouma has been ruled out for the remainder of the season with a knee injury. Richarlison is sidelined due to a calf injury. Destiny Udogie, Ben Davies, Manor Soloman,Timo Werner, Ryan Sessegnon and Fraser Forster are all out.

Tottenham vs Man City Head to Head:
The clubs last played this fixture earlier this year in the FA Cup which Manchester City won 1-0.
It’s been 5 years since Manchester City won away to Tottenham in the league.
There is a 60% chance to see under 2.5 goals.
Tottenham vs Man City Prediction:
We know these two sides can score goals but it remains interesting to see that the under goals market has been the majority in the most recent games. It should be noted and not many people are talking about it that Tottenham could fail big this season by losing their last two games of the season and Newcastle winning their games which would actually dump Tottenham in sixth place, that could be seventh if Chelsea win their last two also. So it might be painful for some fans to accept that a win really is needed for the club who could end up having a miserable finish to the season. But for the neutral it does make this game very exciting and competitive and we expect a really good game of football. Tottenham have proved troublesome for City in recent years but they also had Harry Kane to thank on many occasions. We may have an old fashioned way of thinking but while we think Tottenham will be competitive we’re not too convinced that we will see their greatest display. Which Tottenham player wants to be known as the hero that helped to set up a league title for Arsenal in want has been an underwhelming season for Tottenham? Plus apart from that City have been playing football from another planet in the league the past month.
