Tottenham vs Liverpool: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 15th September 2018
Kick off at 12.30pm BST
Venue: Wembley Stadium

Match Preview:

Tottenham will host Liverpool at Wembley Stadium on Saturday lunchtime owing to the clubs delayed new stadium opening which may not see the light of day this year.

This is arguably the game of the weekend in the Premier League as both teams, the pretenders to title challenges in recent years lock horns. Tottenham did have a 100% record in the league but that came apart against the surprise team this season in Watford who themselves have won all 4 games of the opening campaign. So Tottenham have slid 3 points behind the leading pack but will be focused about getting back on track for this massive visit. Manager Mauricio Pochettino would have been pleased to see both Harry Kane and Dele Alli not playing in England’s recent friendly win over Switzerland.

Liverpool are aiming for a first league title in 29 years and have got off to the right start winning all of their four games. However some will point to the fact that Jurgen Klopp’s team have not been fully tested by potential rivals and this will be their toughest test yet, given that they lost here 4-1 last season.

Team News:

Tottenham: Dele Alli withdrew from England’s squad with what appears to be a minor muscle problem and could make this game. Erik Lamela is still fighting to be fit and Hugo Lloris is recovering from a thigh injury

Liverpool: Simon Mignolet left the Belgian squad with a minor knock but should be available as number 2 keeper on the bench. Adam Lallana is set to be assessed ahead of this game but is a doubt to start

Tottenham vs Liverpool Head to Head:

Tottenham won this fixture 4-1 last season.

Liverpool have not beaten Tottenham in London since 2014.

Tottenham vs Liverpool Prediction:

This will be an intriging tie where Liverpool could go 6 points clear of a potential title rival. One thing is clear and that is with the amount of talent on show we should see goals. Mohamed Salah for Liverpool has had a solid start to the campaign as has Harry Kane and there are goals all over the field. We shouldn’t worry if next weeks Champions League games will have an effect on the teams- they will put that to one side for this fixture.
