Tottenham vs Leicester: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 19th July 2020
Kick off at 4pm BST
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Match Preview:

Tottenham are still in the hunt for a Europa League place and Leicester are trying out Champions League qualification for size. This should be a great game of football where Jose Mourinho will be hoping for his side continue their recent good form.

There have been too many moments since the restart where it feels like Tottenham have gone back in time, their style has been fairly dull and when they take the lead instead of trying for a 2nd like they would have under Pochettino they have sat back and tried to defend the Mourinho way. It doesn’t always work at least not in the Premier League and they have sometimes suffered for it, however recently they have managed 10 points from their last 4 games, so maybe things are finally starting to click.

Leicester need to push on until the final hurdle but this could be a very tricky game for them to play at this point of the season. However at the end of the day they have performed better than Spurs this season and they shouldn’t be intimidated or put off by this challenge. The Foxes do have the 6th best away record in the league but their recent form on the road has not been good and they have lacked a winning consistency away from their home stadium, could this track record punish Brendan Rodgers team in this game?

Team News:

Tottenham: Serge Aurier is unavailable for personal reasons. Eric Dier continues to be suspended for this encounter, whilst Dele Alli is once again doubtful.

Leicester: Leicester have numerous injuries, with Maddison, Chilwell, and Albrighton all doubtful, and Soyuncu suspended.

Tottenham vs Leicester Head to Head:

In the reverse fixture earlier in the season Leicester won 2-1.

Last season Tottenham won this fixture 3-1.

Leicester have not won at Tottenham since 2016 going back 4 games.

6 of the last 7 meetings have ended with both teams to score.

Tottenham vs Leicester Prediction:

We expect to see an open game mostly because both teams have to be pushing to win in order to ensure their qualification hopes. This is why backing both teams to score seems to be an obvious choice for us. Tottenham will strike back but in some games since the restart the likes of Harry Kane and Heung-Min Son have looked a little jaded and Mourinho needs his players to look sharp in games like this. Tottenham could well win this with a piece of magic and we expect goals, but how does this back four stop Jamie Vardy who looks like he will top the goalscorers chart at the same time? Hopefully even without the fans present we will see a very good game of football, all the tools are here to see it.

Tottenham vs Leicester Betting Tips:

Asian handicap (0.0 Tottenham) at 1.624
