Tottenham vs Huddersfield: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 13th April 2019
Kick off at 12.30pm BST
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Match Preview:

Tottenham won their first ever official game at their new stadium with a 2-0 win over Crystal Palace a week ago and they followed that up by beating Manchester City 1-0 in the quarter finals of the Champions League.

In that sense the last week has been a very successful one and Mauricio Pochettino’s team have been fortunate to be handed their 3rd home game in a row as they take on the already relegated Huddersfield.

While there is a certain buzz around the club at the moment, striker Harry Kane has damaged his ligaments and looks certain to be out for the rest of the season which is a huge blow.

Tottenham are in 4th place coming into this game, but do have a game in hand over Chelsea, win that and in theory they would be a point clear in 3rd place. They will understandibly be the odds on favourites to win this game and they should have little problems doing so.

Huddersfield have won just 3 games this season and come into this game having lost 5 matches in a row. Their last game at home ended in a 4-1 thrashing against Leicester. The club have won just 6 points from a possible 48 on thr road, and are conceding on average 2 goals a game.

Team News:

Tottenham: Harry Kane could miss the rest of the season with his ankle injury sustained in the Champions League win against Manchester City. Dele Alli has fractured his hand but it is believed that he will be able to play some games, and will be assessed. Serge Aurier is still out with a hamstring injury. Eric Dier is still struggling with his hip injury. Erik Lamela did have a hamstring injury but will be assessed

Huddersfield: Philip Billing has a back injury but may get the chance to be assessed before the game. Laurent Depoitre is 50/50 after his foot injury earlier this month. Demeaco Duhaney could return after he played for the under 23s. Isaac Mbenza looks set to miss this game after falling to illness.

Tottenham vs Huddersfield Head to Head:

Earlier this season Tottenham beat Huddersfield in the reverse fixture 2-0.

The teams have played each other just 3 times in recent history and Tottenham have won each time.

In those 3 meetings Tottenham have scored 8 goals and Huddersfield are yet to score.

Tottenham vs Huddersfield Prediction:

A sold out brand new stadium, chasing the top 3 and playng a team already relegated. This is a no brainer to be backing the home side to win. The problem we have is that Tottenham are being quoted at 1.20 to win, offering us very little value. We need to look for different markets and one that will push the price more into our favour is Tottenham to win on the handicap, and that will be our main choice for this game.

We also believe that Tottenham can open up the scoring early and it is worth taking them on to be leading on the half hour mark. Son Heung-Min has been brilliant this season and in the absence of Harry Kane and playing against such a leaky defence as Huddersfield it looks good that he can add to his goal tally.

Tottenham vs Huddersfield Betting Tips:

Tottenham to beat Huddersfield with a -1 goal start at 1.62

Tottenham to be leading at 30 minutes at 2.10

Anytime goalscorer: Son Heung-Min at 1.72
