England Premier League
Saturday 6th May 2023
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Match Preview:
Four games without a win has destroyed Tottenham’s chances of playing in the Champions League next season but even Europa League participation is under threat now as they have slipped to 7th place with 54 points. Drop more points here and Aston Villa could go past them too.
Tottenham’s latest game ended in a 4-3 loss away to Liverpool in what was a typical rollercoaster ride for the club. They had found themselves 3-0 down early on and had fought back to 3-3 only to lose deep into injury time after a defensive mistake and new caretaker manager Ryan Mason is searching for his first win. The rate that Tottenham are shipping goals must be of a concern though with 15 goals in the last four games. The club have shown some fight though and in their last home game were able to draw 2-2 with Manchester United after trailing by two goals. What has been evident is that we have a club who have started games very poorly but then recovered in the second half but sometimes the damage in that first half has been too much. How to improve as we enter the final stages of the season?
There has been good vibes at Crystal Palace since Roy Hodgson returned as manager and the club have been able to pick up a healthy 10 points from their last 5 games. The Eagles have flown past Chelsea as a result and with 40 points are more than safe now after a threat of relegation before Hodgson returned. Palace won’t be able to change position even with a win given that Fulham are five points clear of them but if they keep up this consistency there is no reason to see the club finish in the top half of the table and that would be simply a magnificent return.
On the road Palace did lose their last game and Hodgson’s first back as manager against Wolves with that one ending 2-0 but they have also been able to win 2 of their last three games.
Team News:
Tottenham: Hugo Lloris has a muscle injury and looks set to miss out again, there are no other new injury concerns for the club however Rodrigo Bentancur, Emerson Royal and Ryan Sessegnon are all out long term.

Tottenham vs Crystal Palace Prediction:
For Tottenham they need to find a balance because they have shown even in their recent poor results they are capable of good build up play and goals and there is a feeling that they owe their home fans a good game. The good news for the club is that their record over Crystal Palace when playing at home is fantastic and this could put the team in a good place and let’s remember that Palace have lost to Wolves on the road recently. We believe that this is the perfect time for Tottenham’s poor run to end and that they can get the win here and move on. Heung Min-Son and Richarlison could be key figures as their form has improved and it looks apparent that under Mason Richarlison is going to get much more playing time.
Crystal Palace are enjoying their football but don’t have a lot to play for while Tottenham are at home and need to start winning games if they are going to play in European football next season. We think that this could be the best value home banker of the weekend.
