England Premier League
Wednesday 3rd April 2019
Kick off at 7.45pm BST
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Match Preview:
This is it, history in the making, for Tottenham fans April 3rd 2019 will always be a special date. Finally after all of the delays Tottenham will play their first official match at their brand new stadium on Wednesday night and the opponent will be Crystal Palace.
Mauricio Pochettino’s team need a boost as they are currently going through their worst form of the season with just 1 point picked up in thier last five games. On recent form the club would be 19th in the league, which is astonishing and says it all. Spurs’ latest defeat was a harsh one at the weekend against Liverpool when the game seemed to be heading for a draw, Toby Alderweireld scored an own goal which he couldn’t have helped as his goal keeper parried the ball out. Liverpool won 2-1.
But Spurs have lost against the likes of Burnley and Southampton in recent weeks too and form needs to be changed around. The opening night of the new stadium should herald a new era for the club and could be the major boost they are looking for.
Crystal Palace will be safe this season and are 8 points above the bottom three. Form has been mixed with 3 defeats in their last five but they did win their last game at the weekend which came against Huddersfield, a result that ended up sending Huddersfield down.
The Eagles away form has improved vastly and they have lost just 1 game from their past five on the road. Indeed they would be 7th in the league based on away games only. Not only have they won back to back games which came against Burnley and Leicester but they have scored 7 goals in those games too, and Palace are not goal shy right now.
