Tottenham vs Chelsea: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 24th November 2018
Kick off at 5:30pm GMT
Venue: Wembley Stadium

Match Preview:

The early evening kick off is perhaps the game of the weekend in the Premier League when Tottenham take on Chelsea at Wembley Stadium.

Tottenham have already seen league rivals Liverpool and Manchester City come here and win, and the familiar tag of Premier League pretenders has engulfed the club once again. Form is with Spurs though who have won 4 of their last 5 games including back to back wins against Wolves and Crystal Palace and they are only 5 points behind league leaders Manchester City. All is not lost but there is the feeling that so much can change so quickly and Tottenham are dicing between giving the title a shot or settling for a top 4 battle.

Chelsea slipped 4 points behind City as they were held to a 0-0 result at home to Everton in their last game. That was the 3rd draw at home for the Blues in four games. Still after 12 matches they come here undefeated in a derby game that will be intense from the first whistle.

Chelsea have won 4 of their last 5 games away from home and have scored 7 goals in their last two away games, although one would think this game will be much closer. However it is a must win match for them if earlier in the day Manchester City and Liverpool get their wins.

Team News:

Tottenham: Moussa Dembele looks like he will be out until January with an ankle problem. Kieran Trippier is out with a groin strain. Jan Vertonghen could return after a lack of match fitness

Chelsea: Mateo Kovacic looks like a doubt after his muscle injury on international duty

Tottenham vs Chelsea Head to Head:

Last season Chelsea won this game 2-1.

Chelsea have only beaten Tottenham once since 2012 when Tottenham have been the home side.

The last 3 meetings has seen 13 goals and on each occasion both teams have scored.

Tottenham vs Chelsea Prediction:

What does Sarri do here? He has stuck with basically the same formation for a month now which has been roughly 4-3-3. One would wonder if playing 3 up front would work well on a pitch the size of Wembley and the answer could be no. Sarri may need to pull one player back to attacking midfield and will he start or bench Olivier Giroud after Alvaro Morata despite scoring some goals has also come under some criticism for missing easy chances.

As for Tottenham there is little to complain about- the depth and quality in the squad is there for all to see. And yet lose this game and they will be forgotten about as being serious contenders for the league. One thing is for sure and that is this game will be very close.
