England Premier League
Monday 6th November 2023
Kick off at 8pm GMT
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Match Preview:
Monday night will see a London derby and in recent years it has been Chelsea who have been in the driving seat and going for titles. Tottenham though come into this game in 2nd place and have been leading for a few weeks in the league. This is a much needed win for the home side given that some of their rivals dropped points over the weekend. Arsenal lost and Liverpool drew although the champions Manchester City won and have gone into 1st place with 27 points. Tottenham are just a point behind City but will need to win this game to go back in front as a draw won’t do the job because of goal difference.
Given that Arsenal were defeated on Saturday it means that Tottenham are the only unbeaten side and their form has been superb with four wins in a row, they have come against Liverpool, Luton, Fulham and Crystal Palace. At home Tottenham have a 100% record and as previously mentioned have beaten Liverpool but also Manchester United.
Chelsea have slumped to 13th place and their back to back victories over Fulham and Burnley seemed to have been short lived. Following those results they drew 2-2 with Arsenal and then lost again at home against Brentford 2-0. The draw with Arsenal felt like a defeat because the Blues had found themselves two goals up and while there have been some bright sparks in the teams play there is no airbrushing over the fact that this has been a poor start from a club who have spent so heavily in the summer. Chelsea would climb to 10th place with a win but if they were to lose they would find themselves a huge 17 points behind first position.
Team News:
Tottenham: Ben Davies has taken a knock and remains a major doubt for this game, but he could return next week. Udogie Destiny has a muscle injury and is only 50/50 to return for this game. Manor Soloman is out with a knee injury and isn’t due back for another five weeks. Ryan Sessegnon and Ivan Perisic remain out long term.
Chelsea: Armando Broja has recovered from a knee injury and is being tipped to at least make the bench for this game. There are no new injury concerns but Wesley Fofana, Romeo Lavia, Carney Chukwuemeka, Trevoh Chabolah and Ben Chilwell remain sidelined. Christopher Nkunku is out but an update suggests that he could return in 3 weeks from a knee injury.
Tottenham vs Chelsea Head to Head:
Last season Tottenham won this fixture 2-0.
Chelsea have won five of the last seven meetings.
3 of the last four meetings have seen under 2.5 goals.
Tottenham vs Chelsea Prediction:
Chelsea have been very underwhelming this season but what we tend to forget is that they are a dangerous side and have quality players and they could come here and pull off a result. But the current state of affairs points to a Tottenham win. They are at home, full of confidence, playing good football and it is an evening game, this will be tough for Chelsea. It will of course be an emotional night with famed manager Mauricio Pochettino back at Tottenham and he should receive a warm welcome.
Much still hangs on Heung-Min Son’s shoulders, he has been world class this season but he does disappear at periods during the season, if he can be consistent in this campaign then there is every chance that Tottenham can stay in first position and become a real threat. For this game if Tottenham can replicate what we have seen in the past few months then we see a home win.
Tottenham vs Chelsea Betting Tips:
