Tottenham vs Burnley: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 11th May 2024
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Match Preview:

Tottenham’s top four hopes are almost over but they won’t give up just yet. The club are seven points behind Aston Villa and have three games to play while Villa has two. Villa need to only win one game to end Tottenham’s chances although they will face a very tricky match in having to contend with Liverpool at the weekend. For Tottenham many will be expecting the side to bounce back to 19th placed Burnley although Burnley who look like they will be relegated for sure need to win this game to give themselves any chance not to, so this match is really set up to be a potential cracking one.

If Tottenham miss out on a top four finish they only have themselves to blame and the club come into this match having astoundingly lost their last four in a row. Losses have come against Newcastle, Arsenal, Chelsea and Liverpool and in that time they have shipped 13 goals. Tottenham’s latest came at the hands of Liverpool losing that game 4-2 although they did mount a small comeback as it was 4-0 at half time to the Reds.

Burnley are not officially down but it only looks like a matter of time. Lose or even draw in this game and they will be relegated. At the end of the day the Clarets haven’t been good enough and that was highlighted when they really needed to win at the weekend against Newcastle and yet went down 4-1. Newcastle are a quality side but this game was at Burnley’s ground and we all know how poor the Magpies have been on the road this season but it didn’t matter a jot, Burnley were not at the races and this isn’t the first time this season we have seen that. Away form for Vincent Kompany’s men has been better with just one loss in their last five although their results have been littered with draws. The club's last away game was an impressive 1-1 draw with Manchester United though.

Team News:

Tottenham vs Burnley Prediction:

We can’t see any other result here than a home win. Tottenham have been in poor form but against Arsenal and then Liverpool we did see the players wake up and play some good football. They are on a bad run which they should be able to put right against Burnley who when the time has come they have been found to be lacking. This fixture has a recent trend for low goals but Tottenham have goals in them and are coming up against a very leaky defence, making seeing plenty of goals a priority. Burnley has only shown glimmers of quality this season and this defeat will send them down. It would be a major surprise to see anything else. Get on Richarlison to score, he did so in the last game and he tends to get one and then another right off the bat.
