England Premier League
Saturday 20th May 2023
Kick off at 12:30pm BST
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium
Match Preview:
Even a Europa League finish for Tottenham looks a stretch at the moment with Liverpool and Brighton’s form and if Tottenham are going to contest European football next season it looks likely to be in the Conference League and that is a major step down from playing in this seasons Champions League.
That is the result of a couple of poor months for Tottenham who have seen three different managers in charge of the club in what has ended up becoming a chaotic circus like season. Ryan Mason’s side have won just one game from their last five which was their last home game as they beat Crystal Palace 1-0. However Tottenham lost their 13th game of the season against Aston Villa last weekend and that has left the club clinging on to a European place with 57 points. Aston Villa have the same points and Tottenham’s visitors Brentford could reduce their 4 point gap those two teams to just 1 point and give themselves a last dash chance of European football if they can win here.
Brentford have been back to solid form and their only recent blemish was losing away to Liverpool and even that game only ended in a 1-0 defeat. Otherwise this has been a very solid run of form for Thomas Frank’s team. It’s three wins from their past four and there have been victories over Chelsea, Nottingham Forest and West Ham. The clubs last game was the win over the Hammers with that game ending 2-0. It is clearly light and day for the Bees though when we look at their away form and they have lost 3 from their last four and won just four games so far, it is also just four points won from their last 15 on offer.
Team News:
Tottenham: Eric Dier has a knock and will miss out. Hugo Lloris and Ryan Sessegnon are both out for the season as is Rodrigo Bentancur.
Brentford: Ivan Toney will be assessed as he has a hamstring injury though it isn’t thought to be too serious. Thomas Strakosha, Christian Norgaard, Keane Lewis-Potter and Pontus Jansson are all out for the season.
Tottenham vs Brentford Head to Head:
Last seasons fixture finished 2-0 to Tottenham.
The last two meetings have ended in draws.

5 of the last six meetings have seen under 2.5 goals.
Tottenham vs Brentford Prediction:
Though Tottenham have blown hot and cold they are a team who are going to perform better at home and their record over Brentford is a good one. The club are going to try and make that extra push and hope that teams above them drop points. Backing Tottenham remains a risk granted because the players look deflated and know that their current coach won’t be here next season. But they will have the fans behind them and the extra motivation of not seeing Brentford close in on them. This is also Tottenham’s last home game of the season and we expect Harry Kane to be on the ball here and try to work his magic. The rumor mill will go into overdrive whether Kane is staying or not but this could well be his final game at home for the club, plenty of observers will be watching his body language. Kane is great value to bag a goal and he may rise to that occasion and should be backed to do so.
