Tottenham vs Bournemouth: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 15th April 2023
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Tottenham Hotspur Stadium

Match Preview:

Can Cristian Stellini, Tottenham’s interim coach guide the club to a Champions League place and perhaps keeping Harry Kane at the same time? Tottenham beat Brighton 2-1 last weekend for huge three points however it came in controversial circumstances when Brighton were denied a stonewall penalty, Tottenham got away with it and it means that they come into this game in 5th place with 53 points. The Londoners are three points from the top four currently occupied by Manchester United but they have played a game more although their goal difference is better. It’s going to be a close call that’s for sure and Stellini’s team will be the favourites to win this one.

Form for Tottenham has included two draws but they have gone their last 4 games without loss and we would have to go back to the Wolves defeat almost six weeks ago for that. At home the club have won their last 5 in a row and have 11 wins overall and are yet to draw.

Bournemouth are in the mix to go down but they have won 3 games from their last five, all huge wins, have 30 points and are three points clear of the bottom three. Last weekend Gary O’ Neil’s side were able to beat Leicester 1-0 a direct rival for relegation and while the Cherries have not been consistent they are pulling wins out of the bag. Away form does not make for good reading with 10 defeats however there has been two wins from their last four on the road alongside the Leicester victory they have also beaten Wolves.

Team News:

Tottenham: Lucas Moura is suspended and won’t return until the end of this month. Emerson Royal is out until the beginning of May at least with a knee injury. Ryan Sessegnon is sidelined with a hamstring injury. Ben Davies is out until the end of the month with his hamstring.

Bournemouth: Marcos Senesi will be assessed after picking up a hamstring injury. Ryan Fredericks remains sidelined due to his calf injury. Junior Stanilas has a knock and no update has been given so he could be set to miss out for this one. Hamed Traore has a knock from training and will be assessed.

Tottenham vs Bournemouth Head to Head:

The last time the clubs played here was back in 2019 when Tottenham won 3-2.

Earlier this season in the reverse fixture Tottenham also won 3-2.

Bournemouth have never beaten Tottenham away from home.

Tottenham vs Bournemouth Prediction:

Tottenham have had to endure a difficult few weeks with being knocked out of the Champions League against AC Milan, Antonio Conte leaving his post and form hitting the wall where they couldn’t be consistent enough and this has led to their top four hopes taking a hit. However they are still here, and have a great chance to finish in the top four. This match being at home feels like one that they can win and score a few goals too, simply Spurs cannot afford to slip up here and we don’t think they will, the Cherries simply haven’t been convincing enough on the road to think that they will be a threat to this Tottenham side. Reports suggest that Richarlison is back from injury and he will be raring to go and we will back him to get on the score sheet.

It was important also for Heung Min-Son to score last weekend as he has had a quiet season by his usual strong standards and once you get one other quickly follow and we will be backing him to score also. We expect a routine comfortable win for the home side.
