Southampton vs Newcastle: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 27th October 2018
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: St Mary's Stadium

Match Preview:

Southampton are struggling with just 1 win this season but they did at least give themselves some rest bite with a draw last weekend against Bournemouth, which ended a 3 game losing streak. Still the club are down in 16th place.

They return back home to St. Mary’s and if their pattern of results continues they will draw this game. But winning needs to be accommodated into their results or they will inevitably be sucked into a relegation battle. They are still yet to win at home, and manager Mark Hughes is under some real pressure. Does he stick to a 3-1-4-2 or revert back to earlier in the season to a traditional 4-4-2? It seems Hughes isn’t too sure himself and his job could be on the line within the next month.

Newcastle cannot buy a win at the moment. Unlucky in their 3-2 defeat at Manchester United, they followed that up with a loss at home to Brighton even though their tails seemed to be up. It’s a wonder that manager Rafa Beintez has stayed so long and he could be moving to Real Madrid if the rumours coming from Spain are true.

But focus Benitez will on this game as the Magpies look to win their first match of the season. They are rock bottom and have lost their last 3 games in a row. Away from home they have 2 points from 4 matches.

Team News:

Southampton: No new injuries coming into this game

Newcastle: Ciaran Clarke should be back for this game after his thigh injury. Salomon Rondon is back in training

Southampton vs Newcastle Head to Head:

Last season this match finished 2-2.

Newcastle have not won away at Southampton since 2004.

4 of the last 5 meetings have ended with both teams to score.

Southampton vs Newcastle Prediction:

Both teams would gladly take a point but this is always a risky bet to take as legs get tired by the end of the game and there isn’t anything between these two teams. Our main bet here will be to see both teams all square at half time. This will be a fiercely contested match but the Saints may just have too much for Rafa’s men in the end.

Southampton vs Newcastle Betting Tips:
