England Premier League
Sunday 6th November 2022
Kick off at 2pm GMT
Venue: St Mary's Stadium
Match Preview:
Southampton lost their seventh game of the season last weekend as they fell 1-0 at Crystal Palace although that was only their first defeat in 4 games and they will be looking to bounce back as they return back home for this clash against Newcastle.
The latest defeat though has left the Saints in 17th place and just 1 point above the relegation zone. However with the league being so close one win could make them jump up by six or even seven places given results around them. At home they have drawn their last two games both against London teams in West Ham and Arsenal although their draw against the Gunners was significant given they are leading the league and the Saints were also trailing in that game. But overall their home form has been poor enough to rank in bottom place so far with six points won from 18 and just one win so far which came against Chelsea.
Newcastle have drawn too many games but overall they have had a strong start to the season and have lost just once so far. Eddie Howe’s side have the best form in the league with 3 censecutive wins and they beat Aston Villa 4-0 in their last game. On the road they are unbeaten in their last three games and their last away game finished in a 2-1 win over Tottenham and they will be favourties to win this one. If Tottenham slip up this weekend Newcastle could push into 3rd place with victory here so this is a huge game for Howe’s side.

Southampton vs Newcastle Prediction:
We know all about Newcastle and their strengths going forward and how they have become a difficult team to beat. They have drawn too many games on the road but beating Tottenham recently felt like a new chapter for the club given how strongly Tottenham have started this season. With Southampton they have been poor overall and they could get involved in a relegation battle this season, that would come as no surprise. And yet on their day they are not an easy side to play against, just ask Arsenal who have only dropped five points so far this season and two of them were against the Saints.
This won’t be an easy game for Newcastle, but let’s stick with the team in form who are also decent value to get the 3 points here and march on. The club have really looked the business lately and we will back them to pick up their 7th win of the season so far.
