Match Preview:

Friday night football makes a rare appearance in the Premier League and so the 10^th week of the Premier League will kick off when Southampton take on Leicester.

The Saints have not won a game home or away since September 14^th and come into this match in 17^th place. Their 1-1 draw at Wolves last weekend stopped a 3 game losing streak and that result was seen as a positive one.

Southampton have the rare distinction of having a much better away record than at home, indeed their home record is the worst in the league where from 4 games they have won just 1 point. The clubs last home game ended in a 4-1 battering at the hands of Chelsea and in those four matches they have shipped 10 goals and scored just 4. It won’t get easier for the club who insist on playing a 3-4-2-1 formation, working gloriously against Wolves for the most part, but this formation feels as if Southampton are set up to be afraid to lose and not to play.

Not enough plaudits can be handed down to Leicester the 2016 champions who have started the season so well. Last weekend they came back from a goal down to beat Burnley 2-1 and are in 3^rd place with 17 points. The Foxes have won 3 of their last 4 games and that loss was seen as some to be controversial with the injury time penalty that Liverpool had to win the game 2-1.

Whilst Leicester are very reliable and strong at home they would be in 11^th place based on away form only and have gained just 4 points from the 12 on offer. The club have won just one game on the road which came against Sheffield United and have lost their last two. They have only failed to score once away from home which was the 1-0 defeat against Manchester United.

Southampton: Cedric with a calf strain and Moussa Djenepo muscle injury look set to miss this game and both are not due back until the beginning of next month

Leicester: The Foxes have no new injuries coming into this game

Leicester can’t play as bad in the first half as they did against Burnley and expect to get away with it, especially away from home. Whilst the Foxes do have the better side we think Southampton will be dangerous here and there will not be too much between the clubs. The Saints would have taken a lot by ending their losing sequence, and getting a draw at Wolves is an excellent result. We will however back the Foxes to get something from this game but with the draw covered due to being away from home. We will also back Jamie Vardy to get on the score sheet as his recent goal scoring form can't be ignored.
