Southampton’s defeat at Arsenal last weekend means that the club are in the bottom three and in real danger of relegation with 11 games to play. The good news is that one win would take them out of the relegation zone and they are 7 points above 19^th placed Fulham.

The worry is that The Saints are in poor form with no wins in their last 4 matches. Their last victory came five weeks ago against Everton. They also come into this match with just 1 home win from their last five.

This is Fulham’s last chance saloon to save their season. Currently in 19th and 8 points from safety they have to beat Southampton who have become a direct rival for survival. A loss here would pretty much condemn Claudio Ranieri’s side to relegation. And let’s be honest Fulham have been very poor where they have won just 3 points from their past 15.

Away from home The Cottagers have the worst record in the league where they are yet to win, and have lost their last 4 games in a row.

Team News:

Southampton: Danny Ings won’t be back for another two weeks at least and has been a big loss for the club. Michael Obafemi will be assessed ahead of the game with a hamstring injury

Fulham: The only new worry for Fulham is Andre Schurrle who has a virus but could make the squad

The teams have not played at Southampton since 2013 when The Saints won 2-0.

This is like a cup final and it should be an absorbing tie. Fulham will give everything to this game, but the fact it is an away match against a team that can raise themselves against teams around them in the league could be very hard for the visitors. Goals look on the agenda though and our main tip for a game where tactics could well go out the window early on is to see both teams to score. It is a match which will become physical for the side who is winning and we also expect to see a sending off, which is good odds and could well happen in this match.
