Single #31 Preview:This is a must win match for Borussia Dortmund. Having lost the first leg 1-0 away at Estádio da Luz despite dominating the match, they will at the very least will require a win by a 1 goal in this 2nd leg just to have a chance of taking this Champions League tie into extra time. However, if Benfica manage to score an away goal tonight, then Dortmund will need to win by a 2 or more goal margin in order to be able to progress to the next round, hence the "-1 asian handicap". Fortunately for Dortmund, they generally perform far better at Signal Iduna Park than when on their travels, with a home domestic league record of 8 wins, 3 draws, and 0 losses, which compares to an away league record of 4 wins, 4 draws, and 4 losses. The main reason for this contrast in performance is the amount of goals conceded, on their travels they have conceded more than double the number of goals they have conceded when having home advantage. On top of that, Benfica are much less prolific goal scorers away from home, therefore a home win for Dortmund looks likely tonight. Benfica's domestic results don't seem to be affected too much whether they play home or away, however at home they have scored far more goals (34 goals in 12 games), whereas away from home they have only managed 18 goals in 12 games. So given that Dortmund were the better team in the first leg and were unlucky not to get anything from it, that their defence is far stronger at home, they need to win the game to progress, and Benfica's attack is far less potent away from home, this selection should stand a high chance of winning.
