England Premier League
Saturday 31st October 2020
Kick off at 12:30pm GMT
Venue: Bramall Lane
Match Preview:
After how they have started this season one of the last teams Sheffield United will want to face is Manchester City.
The Blades come into this fixture in 19th place and are yet to win any of the six games played so far. Their only point has been claimed against Fulham, the team in bottom place yet a shock win here could see them pull out of the releagtion zone.
Chris Wilder’s side have just had to play Liverpool at Anfield which to be fair they put up a good match only losing 2-1 and they took the lead in that game. That shows us that he has a team willing to up their game and try their best against the better sides but even a close loss still generates zero points and one wonders how United are going to get out of this mess?
At home the Blades have lost against Leeds and Wolves conceding 4 goals in total and have scored just once.
By their standards it hasn’t been a great start to the season for Manchester City who come into this game in 13th place. Though the club do have a game in hand over most teams but last weekend it was another two points dropped as they could only draw 1-1 at West Ham. Manager Pep Guardiola may have settled for that given that they were losing the match against a side full of confidence and away from home. Still there is that nagging feeling that the club are simply not as consistent as they once were and they have dropped seven points already.
In midweek though City showed their European pedigree by going to a tough ground in the Stade Velodrome against Marseille and winning 3-0 in the Champions League. In doing so City relived some ghosts after losing against Lyon in the same competition last season. Guardiola will be hoping his team can take a lot of positives from that win.
Team News:
Sheffield United: Max Lowe could be back for this game after missing the Liverpool match with a head injury. It has bene revealed that John Fleck will be out until the end of November at least with a back injury.
Manchester City: Sergio Aguero is injured again this time with a muscle injury and the player has been ruled out of this game, he is hoping to be back for City’s next match. Nathan Ake has been pencilled in to return for this match after his groin injury. Benjamin Mendy. Gabriel Jesus and Fernandino are all out for at least the next 3-4 weeks with longer term injuries.
Sheffield Utd vs Man City Head to Head:
In the league Manchester City have won the last 3 meetings in a row.
Last season this fixture ended 1-0 to Manchester City.
In the league the clubs have only met four times in the last 15 years where there is a 100% record to see under 2.5 goals.
Sheffield Utd vs Man City Prediction:
It would be a real surprise to see Manchester City not win this game but whilst Sheffield United have started poorly they are not getting rolled over and history between these clubs also suggests very close games.
City have played in midweek and travelled to France and whilst they did get a good result they have some concerning injuries as well to key players. The Blades will have a fair few chances in this game and given how early it is in the season and their position we can think they will take some risks and that is why it may be better value to back goals.
We also think Phil Foden has a decent chance of getting on the score sheet at good value odds.
Sheffield Utd vs Man City Betting Tips:
Total goals (Over 2.5) at 1.50
Anytime goalscorer: Phil Foden at 2.50
