England Premier League
Wednesday 6th December 2023
Kick off at 7:30pm GMT
Venue: Bramall Lane
Match Preview:
Sheffield United lost their 11th game of the season at the weekend as they were defeated 5-0 by 19th placed Burnley and the Blades are bottom of the Premie League. With 5 points they are four from safety and remarkably despite such a poor start they have every chance to stay up although right now that looks unlikely. However there has been a managerial change and it should come as no surprise that Paul Heckingbottom has been sacked. It may well come as a surprise to see his replacement- former manager Chris Wilder. He will have quite a job on his hands and his first game back in charge probably couldn’t be more daunting.
At home the Blades have earned just 4 points from a possible 21 and although they lost their last game here against Bournemouth they have recently beaten Wolves. Liverpool were involved in a more difficult game than they would have expected at home to Fulham this past weekend. They had to dig deep and won 4-3 and that keeps the Reds right in the hunt for the title. Jurgen Klopp’s side come into this midweek showdown in 2nd place with 31 points as they try to chase down league leaders Arsenal. Liverpool have been convincing at home but on the road they have suffered and would be down in 9th place based on away form alone. Indeed they have gone their last four games without a win and we would have to go back almost three months for their last away win which came against Wolves. It’s not as if Liverpool are losing games on the road though but they have drawn their last three which have come against Brighton, Luton and Manchester City.

Sheffield Utd vs Liverpool Head to Head:

3 of the last four meetings have seen under 2.5 goals.
Sheffield Utd vs Liverpool Prediction:
Sheffield United will be hoping for what would be a surprise result in midweek, and it seems very unlikely they will get one. There is the new manager effect and we have seen countless times how that has worked. There is also the fact that Liverpool have not been that good on the road but the Reds are about to face the poorest side in the league. Still 1.20 for Liverpool to win is absolutely no value at all considering how they have made heavy weather of some of their trips.
This is a game where we expect to see goals though and United will play their part with an old manager back and this being an evening game, it should be entertaining, but when the dust has settled expect the same kind of result at the end of it and we believe despite Chris Wilder returning this will not be a wild night of celebrations.
Sheffield Utd vs Liverpool Betting Tips:
Half Time Result: Draw at 3.25
Luis Diaz to score at 2.28
Over 3.5 goals at 1.80
Both teams to score at 1.80
