England Premier League
Monday 20th July 2020
Kick off at 6pm BST
Venue: Bramall Lane
Match Preview:
Sheffield United need to be throwing everything and the kitchen sink to try and reach a European spot for next season and they will welcome a home game at this stage of the season.
Their season threatened to implode during the restart but then Chris Wilder’s side started to play the football we know they can and outside of Liverpool and Manchester City the Blades are a threat to any side in the Premier League.
At home the club have won almost 50% of their games with most of their home wins coming in their last 10 here so they have been improving as the season has gone on.
Everton have had another frustrating season given the investment that's been put into the club. Three different managers also, Marco Silva had his moments but the players stopped playing for him, then in the dugout in came care taker manager and club legend Duncan Ferguson who put fire into the belly of the players and staged the entrance of the legendary Carlo Ancelotti to take the hot seat, in that regards it has been quite a season for the Toffees.
Safety has been a priority for the club since their nightmare start and they have been safe for some time in the league, a lot of hard work has gone into making Everton a stable team. They are still very much a work in progress and Ancelotti needs a good transfer window before he can really be judged. Away from home Everton have been poor and would be 16th in the league so this is something that the club will need to rectify for next season.
Team News:
Sheffield United: No new injury concerns.
Everton: Mason Holgate has joined a fairly large injury list and will now miss the rest of the season.
Sheffield Utd vs Everton Head to Head:
Earlier in the season Shefffield United surprised Everton and won the reverse fixture 2-0.
The last time the clubs played here was back in 2007 when the game finished 1-1.
In recent times the clubs have only met 4 times with 2 Everton wins, 1 Sheffield United victory and a draw.
There is a 75% chance that the game will have under 2.5 goals.
Sheffield Utd vs Everton Prediction:
Sheffield United are a very good team and they have raised a lot of eyebrows this season, manager Chris Wilder deserves his own award with how the team has conducted themselves this season. The Blades will want to push on as high as they can despite any recent set backs and this could be a hard game for the visitors.
Everton have the quality to hurt teams, so the tactic here will be the midfield battle and trying to stop their attackers away from home from having any service. We believe this could be a physical game and could well play out like a dour encounter when Everton lost to Tottenham a few weeks ago, it will be a close affair but maybe the Blades can shade this one.
