Match Preview:
Saturday evening’s entertainment in the Premier League will see Brighton trying to, more or less confirm their survival if they can win at Sheffield United.
Graham Potter’s side have certainly blown hot and cold this season but the Seagulls have found some much welcomed form in the last few months and this is why they have climbed up to 16th and are 7 points in front of the relegation zone.
Brighton have lost just one game in their past five although they come into this match having drawn their last two games. However their last match in midweek was away to Chelsea and with that game finishing 0-0 this was seen as a brilliant point for the club, they should therefore come into this encounter full of confidence.
Sheffield United have been officially relegated and they look destined to finish in last place given that they are 10 points behind West Bromwich Albion in 19th. From their last 30 points available the Blades have managed to earn just 3, and nobody can believe that they didn’t deserve to go down this season. The clubs last game ended in a 1-0 defeat at home to Wolves and at home the Blades have lost 12 games from 16 and scored just 10 goals. Their last home game finished in a 3-0 defeat to Arsenal.
Team News:
Sheffield United: Chris Basham has been out for weeks with a knock and could be assessed to return for this game. Sander Berge has fitness issues and will be assessed. Olivier McBurnie, Jack O’Connell, Jack Robinson and Billy Sharp are all out long term.
Brighton: Florin Andone will face a late fitness test but is a doubt. Ben White is suspended for this game. Percy Tau will be assessed with his hamstring injury.

One would feel that the onus is on Brighton to come forward and search for goals, they are the only team who has the motivation to try and win this game. Sheffield United are a proud team though and we don’t expect them to lay down. Football is certainly a funny old game, so said infamously by Jimmy Greaves and having gone down now we may yet see the best of the Blades. Once that pressure is off players can react quite differently.
However we should respect Brighton’s form which is solid and they have just kept a clean sheet against Chelsea. Therefore we will back the away victory.
