England Premier League
Saturday 22nd February 2020
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Bramall Lane
Match Preview:
Sheffield United have a real chance to make a statement this weekend and they will be favourites to beat Brighton. The club need to put in a professional performance because with Chelsea and Tottenham meeting this weekend that could signal United’s intent to move up at least one place and into the top 5 with a win.
Form is good for the home side who have won 3 matches from their last five and that includes winning back to back games coming into this game, where they have beaten Crystal Palace and Bournemouth.
Brighton are in 15th place and just 3 points from the drop. The clubs last win came at the end of December and their form is clearly pointing to a relegation fight in the coming weeks. The club have drawn their last two games and away from home they currently have the 3rd worst record in the league.
Graham Potter’s Brighton side have collected just 2 points from their last 15 away from home and if they do get involved in a bottom three tussle it will be because of their away form.
Team News:
Sheffield United: The Blades have no new injuries coming into this game.
Brighton: Dale Stephens looks to have recovered from his hamstring injury but a late call will be made to see if he can make the squad for this game.
Sheffield Utd vs Brighton Head to Head:
Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Sheffield United won 1-0.
The last time the clubs met each other before this season was back in 2006 when Sheffield United, at home, won the game 3-1.
Sheffield Utd vs Brighton Prediction:
Out of all of the Premier League matches this weekend this match looks like the most straight cut to be a home win. The Blades have come on leaps and bounds and shown how strong they have been this season, that if they were to drop points at home to Brighton it would rightly be seen as a shock. Whilst Chris Wilder’s side are odds on there is still value to be had in their price and we will certainly be tipping them to pick up another three points at the weekend.
In players such as Billy Sharp the club have match winners and team supporters, Sharp supports United and so does manager Wilder, this is a great moment for the Blades and we can’t see them losing this game, not at home.
