Sheffield Utd vs Aston Villa: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 14th December 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Bramall Lane

Match Preview:

Sheffield United are in 8th place with 22 points and they come into this game with just 1 defeat in their last 5 games. But they have drawn too many lately. They did however win their last game, a victory over Norwich by a 2-1 scoreline.

A win at the weekend could see the Blades move up a couple of places and all in all manager Chris Wilder would have to be very content with his sides start to the Premier League campaign. Home form could be better, the club have lost 4 games and won 3 at Bramall Lane, which isn’t a great record but could be a lot worse for newly promoted side. Based on home form alone they would be in 15th place.

Aston Villa are in 17th position and have the threat of relegation hanging over them. They have lost their last 2 consecutive games and they are conceding too many goals, it has been 8 in their last three games, and along with Everton, Watford, and more surprisingly Chelsea they have conceded the most goals in the league on their travels with 17.

Villa have won just 1 game away from home, losing 6 of their 8 away games. They haven't won on their travels for 4 games and have earned just 1 point from their last 12 available on the road.

Team News:

Sheffield United: The Blades have no new injury concerns coming into this game.

Aston Villa: Tyrone Mings is out with a hamstring injury, he is the only new injury for the club.

Sheffield Utd vs Aston Villa Prediction:

These teams know each other well from the Championship and we expect to see a very close game, but we also expect to see a very open one with goals being the order of the day. Aston Villa need to go for it because they could get drawn into a relegation dog fight and the last 5 months or so could be long and stressful for them. The Blades are the better side but we expect this match to play out like a classic cup game with plenty of chances for both sides.

Sheffield Utd vs Aston Villa Betting Tips:
