Weekend Football Previews and Predictions by Kully Bahia
Hull v West Ham (1st April 2017)
Hull were unlucky in their last game at Goodison Park, the red card against Huddleston was harsh but it proved the turning point in the match. The International break has since given teams much needed breathing space. Hull have two home games in a week, facing Middlesbrough midweek, before visiting Etihad Stadium next Saturday to face Manchester City. Marco Silva will be eyeing 2 home wins, and 6 points on the table as their home form is pretty solid of late, winning 3, drawing 2, and losing only once to Man City, which is the only game that where they failed to score. Hull should be able to find the back of the net this weekend, and they'll fancy themselves against a West Ham side struggling for results. Expect Hull to make their home advantage count, and go all out for the win.
West Ham have been playing decent football but can't keep out the goals. Their defence has been embarrassing, leaking far too many goals, which has lead to them conceding 52 goals in 29 games. The last 7 games shows just 1 win, which came away to Southampton 3-1.With the players West Ham have at their disposal, they should be much higher up the table, clearly Bilic has his work cut out. Scoring isn't a problem for the hammers, having scored in 24 of their 29 league games, and they should be able to score again against Hull. Back BTTS at 5/8.
Score prediction: 2-2 draw (Odds 23/2)
Leicester v Stoke (1st April 2017)
Leicester are performing back to their best, if only they had played more like this for Ranieri, he would surely still be at the club. Clearly on recent form Leicester are the team to avoid, winning their last 3 league games, including an away win 3-2 against West Ham, which was their 1st win on the road. Drinkwater, Albrighton, Vardy, Mahrez and co are putting in great performances, I expect another good result for the Foxes on Saturday. Even in defence, there's more organisation and communication between Huth and Morgan. The team is playing with great confidence, and should get the win.
Stoke have somewhat lost themselves since the new year, and the absence of Shaqiri as playmaker is clearly evident. They didn't have a game plan when hosting Chelsea last time out, apart from parking the bus and hoping to get a goal. Players are under performing, and Mark Hughes needs to do something about it. Scoring goals is a problem, 33 in 29 games isn't good enough. I can't see Stoke giving Leicester too many problems, and being out of form doesn't help either. Back Leicester to win at evens.
Score prediction: Leicester to win 3-0 (Odds 15/1)
Preston v Nottingham Forest (1st April 2017)
Preston's home record is impressive of late, and I can see it getting better to the end of the season. Winning their last 4 at home, and beating Reading 3-0 is eye catching. Five points off the play off positions, Preston will believe they've a chance of making it, as long as other results go there way. Notts Forest have a terrible away record, drawing 2 and losing 7 of their last 9 games. They have only managed to score 5 goals in those 9 games, and that lack of goals is their biggest problem. Takeover gossip hasn't helped the club, and confidence is waning as the season comes to an end. Sitting a point above Blackburn, relegation is the fear factor. The bookmaker's have Preston at 87/100, a mistake I believe, back Preston to win.
Score prediction: Preston to win 2-0 (Odds 17/2)
Swansea v Middlesbrough (2nd April 2017)
Swansea were unlucky not to score against Bournemouth in their last game, losing 2-0.The swans were wasteful in front of goal, and goals win matches. Paul Clement will be eyeing 3 home points here, and with the players Swansea have, they really should win. Llorente, Sigurdsson and Leroy Fer, should be able to stamp their authority on the game. Since Clement's appointment as manager, they haven't played badly, and this is a must win for them.
Middlesbrough recently sacked their manager Karanka after some bad performances on the pitch. Middlesbrough's biggest problem is scoring goals, with just 20 scored in 28 games, winning only 4 games, drawing 10 and losing 14 in the process. Incredibly there isn't a player that stands out this season who can take the game by the scruff of the neck. The gap from championship to premier league is big, and some teams just can't adjust to the standard of football. Middlesbrough lack pace in midfield and upfront, hence the lack of goals. Back Swansea to win at 24/25.
Score prediction: Swansea to win 2-0 (Odds 15/2)
