Nottm Forest vs Tottenham: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 28th August 2022
Kick off at 4:30pm BST
Venue: City Ground

Match Preview:

If you had told Nottingham Forest fans that after 3 games they would be above Liverpool, Chelsea and Manchester United they would have had you committed. But that is the reality and with 4 points and just one defeat so far everyone at the club must be delighted so far. That doesn’t mean it has been an easy ride but if the newly promoted club can keep picking up points as they have been they will have no relegation fears.

Last weekend Forest had a tricky encounter against Everton and came away with a 1-1 draw after taking the lead. The clubs last home game ended in victory over West Ham but this will be a huge test of the clubs capabilities as they welcome Tottenham to the City Ground. In the Carabao Cup in midweek Forest eased to a 3-0 win over Grimsby away from home.

Tottenham are in 3rd place with seven points and no defeats and they have started the season in solid and confident style. Last weekend they were made to work hard at home against Wolves and finally won 1-0 with Harry Kane getting the winner and the English international has started the season well. There is a real swagger about this Tottenham side and they come into this season with the hope of winning silverware. The clubs only away game so far was against Chelsea, where they gave as good as they got and yet were heading for defeat until Kane scored in the depths of injury time for a 2-2 draw so they also have a never give up attitude too.

Team News:

Nottingham Forest: Jack Colback has been ill and will be assessed to see if he has recovered in time for this game. Morgan Gibbs-White has a knock but it is believed he should recover for this game. Moussa Niakhate has a muscle injury and is out long term. Omar Richards has an on going leg injury and isn’t expected back for another 4-5 weeks.

Tottenham: Cristian Romero has been ruled out of this game with a muscle injury but is expected to back next week. Lucas Moura and Bryan Gil will both be assessed as they are carrying knocks. Oliver Skipp has been making progress with his foot injury, he will miss out here but should be back next week.

Nottm Forest vs Tottenham Head to Head:

The last time the teams met was in 2014 in the League Cup where Tottenham ran out 3-1 winners.

The teams have not played each other at the City Ground since 2005 when, in the FA Cup, Tottenham won 3-0.

We have to go back to 1997 for the last time Nottingham Forest beat Tottenham.

Nottm Forest vs Tottenham Prediction:

With the way the fixtures have worked out it is very possible that Tottenham who will be the favourites here would have slid down the table by a few positions and won’t be coming into this game in 3rd place, so this will give Antonio Conte’s side food for thought and the motivation one would believe to be ready from the very first whistle.

Forest did beat another London team when at home in West Ham and that was a fantastic win for the club however many observers noted that the Hammers were extremely unlucky not to come away with something and there was quite a bit of luck in Forest’s favour that day. We expect the home side to have plenty of chances but the way Tottenham has been playing, this is a club capable of getting goals. Perhaps there are some question marks out there on how Tottenham will perform away from home, and we are at early stages of the season, so it is a slight risk but we will still be backing Conte’s team to collect the points at the weekend.
