Match Preview:
Much like these two clubs consistency, the FA have not been consistent in hosting Friday night matches in the Premier League but this game will kick off the weekend with one. Nottingham Forest are amongst the worst clubs in recent form in the league with just one point won from their last 15 and manager Steve Cooper is under pressure to keep his job and has been installed as the favourite to be the next manager sacked. Forest have slipped to 16th place and have 14 points and come into the weekend five points above the bottom three. Last weekend a dismal losing run ended away to Wolves with a 1-1 draw and victory here would see the club move up to 15th and past Crystal Palace. Home form has seen 9 points won from 21 with the majority of their results ending in draws with three from seven games played. Forest have lost their last two games here with their latest one ending in a 1-0 defeat against Everton.
Tottenham really needed the win last weekend and it was a strong and convincing one as they overpowered Newcastle to beat them 4-1 at home. This has been a poor period for the club but could that win bring them back on course? The club have slipped from 1st place to 5th but have 30 points and are just three short of a top four place and seven behind the league leaders Liverpool. It is a worry to look at recent form for the club though after such a strong start to the season but they will be favourites to win this game. On the road it should be noted that the club has the fourth best record with just one defeat so far and with 18 goals scored they have the most on the road alongside Manchester City.
Team News:
Nottingham Forest: Serge Aurier has been ruled out for two weeks with a calf strain. Murillo has a muscle injury but could be assessed, Taiwo Awoniyi is ruled out for the next two months due to a groin injury.
Tottenham: James Maddison won’t return for at least another month with his ankle injury. Rodrigo Bentancur is out for another seven weeks also with an ankle injury. Ashley Phillips remains sidelined until next month with his ankle, Manor Soloman is out for the next month with a knee injury. Ryan Sessegnon, Eric Dier and Ivan Perisic are all out long term.

Recent h2h’s are too far and few between to study for patterns. What we do know is what we have seen so far this season and we will back Tottenham to win this game. It was so important for us to have any confidence in backing Tottenham for this game for what happened in their last match. They looked back after a poor month which will probably have cost them a title run in. But when they put in good displays like they did against Newcastle it does help and they are more than capable of coming here and getting a positive result- they will need it or they could end up 10 points from first place. The objective for Tottenham is going to be a top four finish which is tricky given that Manchester City are currently fourth and their team to catch will most probably be Aston Villa, hoping that Emery’s side will have a dip in form at one point.
For Forest problems remain but they will fight hard at home and not make this easy for the visitors, but the manager is on thin ice and by the end of the weekend could have more than a slip up to contend with.
