England Premier League
Saturday 21st October 2023
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: City Ground
Match Preview:
Nottingham Forest won’t be expected to win many games but for this one observers and fans alike will be expecting a home win with the way Luton have started the campaign. Forest have lost three times this season but have drawn 3 of their last four games and it’s just one loss from their last five which came against Manchester City and that was away from home.
Forest’s last game ended 0-0 away to Crystal Palace and their last home game finished 1-1 against Brentford. The club are in 13th place with 9 points so at this point it can still go either way, to move into the top half of the table or get sucked down for a relegation battle.
Luton’s recent win away to Everton means that they are not in last place anymore but come into this weekend in 17th with four points and are five points behind their hosts. The win over Everton has sadly been followed up by two defeats which have come against Burnley and Tottenham but they have been close results and the Tottenham game only ended 1-0. While Luton’s sole win so far has come away from home they have lost 75% of their games and have conceded 9 goals already.
Team News:
Nottingham Forest: Ola Aina is out but could be back next week following his muscle injury. Taiwo Awoniyi is out for at least two weeks with a groin injury, Serge Aurier is only 50/50 due to a knock. Danilo and Felipe are likely to miss out but could return next weekend, Gonzalo Montiel is 50/50 and will be assessed following a muscle injury.
Luton: Albert Sambi and Daniel Potts are both missing for another six weeks, Gabriel Osho is 50/50 to return from an ankle injury. Jordan Clark is still sidelined with an ankle injury and Amarii Bell is out with no fixed return date with a hamstring injury.
Nottm Forest vs Luton Head to Head:
The last time the two sides played each other was two years ago in the Championship and that game finished 0-0.
The last four meetings have all finished under 2.5 goals.
Nottingham Forest have not won this fixture for five games.
There is a 70% chance to see under 2.5 goals.
Nottm Forest vs Luton Prediction:
We think that this game could end in a draw, Forest have been dealt a huge blow to miss forward Taiwo Awoniyi and he has provided quite a few important goals for the club. Forest at home will come forward but leave gaps and Luton have grown in confidence. It is easy to have digs at Luton but their defence has really improved lately and they won’t be an easy team to overcome.
This could be a game where both sides cancel each other out and the draw market offers good value. This is a fixture that hasn’t produced many goals of the seasons and we don’t see that changing here. We don’t expect many chances for both sides and it could be argued that both would settle for a point here. Because both clubs are equal that means that the market will be wide open so let’s investigate what is the best choice in a game that could well be devoid of much top level quality.
