England Premier League
Friday 16th September 2022
Kick off at 8pm BST
Venue: City Ground
Match Preview:
Despite buying almost 20 new players in the transfer window and starting the season well one has to wonder if it is all unravelling for Nottingham Forest after just one month? Steve Cooper’s side come into this game in 19th place and have scored just four goals and conceded 14. Nine of those goals have been shipped in their last two games and whilst losing 6-0 against Manchester City isn’t a marker on how their season could go losing 3-2 to Bournemouth is.
There is of course plenty of time for Forest to recover and win this game and they could well escape the bottom three so early in the season. Perhaps it is about the players having to gel and Cooper finding a plan B but for now there will be some worries at the City Ground after the club have lost their last 3 games. Home form so far has seen 3 points won from a possible 9 and after winning their first game they have lost two in a row.
Fulham are in 10th place and have started brightly. They are showing a good attitude and have not been afraid to get at teams and attack. So far it is won 2 lost 2 and drawn 2 but the Cottagers will take 8 points from six games all day and keep that up and they will be very safe this season. The clubs last game finished in a 2-1 defeat at Tottenham and they have lost two of their last three games.
Team News:
Nottingham Forest: Orel Mangala is only 50/50 to return from his hamstring, Moussa Niakhate has no fixed return date from his muscle injury, Omar Richards is scheduled to return in two weeks time from his leg injury.
Fulham: Antonee Robinson will be assessed with his ankle but has a chance to make the squad. Manor Soloman is out long term with a knee injury.
Nottm Forest vs Fulham Head to Head:
Last season the clubs met here in The Championship and Fulham won 4-0.
This has been a happy hunting ground for Fulham who have won the last 3 meetings at the City Ground. Forest’s last win here came back in 2015.
There is a 60% chance to see over 2.5 goals.
Nottm Forest vs Fulham Prediction:
The worry for Fulham is that they are yet to win away from home so far and that could be a problem for the club going forward this season. You feel that despite their healthy start they will need to pick up some points on the road at one point. The good news of course is that they have a decent recent record away to Forest and they will be looking at that fact closely. They also have Aleksandar Mitrovic who has been showing his Championship form and has scored six goals already. In fact he is 2nd in the top goalscorers so far. We will back him to get on the score sheet given he is coming up against a weak defence who are conceding over 2 goals per game on average.
For Steve Cooper one would think that he would have taken the break to look into his defence and also try to bond the players together. Forest have been subject to many internet memes and jokes because of all of their new arrivals but at the end of the day it is no joke that these players really do need to understand each other’s play and start playing to the best of their abilities. The clubs are seen as fairly equal and that is why the prices are very open here. We will go for the team that are scoring the goals and have great results so far over their opposition so will be backing the visitors at value to get all three points whilst covering the draw on the refund for extra security.
