Nottm Forest vs Everton: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 2nd December 2023
Kick off at 5:30pm GMT
Venue: City Ground

Match Preview:

Nottingham Forest’s form of late has hit a wall with 3 defeats from their past four games and that includes losing their last two. Those defeats have come against West Ham and Brighton where they lost by the same score lines of 3-2. Forest are in 15th place and have 13 points and while it is not exactly panic time for Steve Cooper’s side they will want to start picking up points before the busy Christmas schedule which can start to separate the teams that will stay up and the ones that could go down. It’s just one win in their last five though and that will be concerning. At home Forest lost their latest game against Brighton but that was in fact their first home defeat of the season. The majority result at home for the club has been the draw at 50%. The club are scoring goals which isn’t too bad for their position with 16 so far that is the same as sixth placed Manchester United.

Everton come into this weekend in 19th place although for protesting fans that should be 15th and they should be 9 points clear of the bottom three, but of course the club has been docked 10 points for breaching FFP rules. Everton’s first game since receiving the points deduction was to lose 3-0 at home to Manchester United. The scoreline doesn’t tell the full story and Sean Dyche’s team did create 24 chances on goal and played well at times. But a defeat is a defeat and the club are going to have to start winning games and getting back on track. Current form isn’t too bad despite last weekend and that was the clubs only defeat in their last four games. Everton have performed better away from home so far and would rank in 9th place based on away form alone. They have won three of their last four outings which have come against Crystal Palace, West Ham and Brentford. If the Toffees were to win they would still be in the bottom three but could move up to 18th.

Team News:

Everton: Beto is being tipped to return from a minor knee injury. Dominic Calvert-Lewin will be assessed due to a muscle injury, Amadou Onana is expected to miss out here due to a calf injury but could return next week. Dele Alli and Andre Gomes remain out for extended periods.

Nottm Forest vs Everton Head to Head:

Last seasons fixture finished 2-2 and the last two meetings have both ended in draws.

Nottingham Forest have managed just one victory over Everton in the last 7 meetings.

Nottm Forest vs Everton Prediction:

We will not concentrate on the h2h’s between the clubs because they have only played each other twice in the past 24 years. Although last season we witnessed draws home and away. Of the six combined goals scored last season it is interesting to note that just one player will make it onto the pitch for this game in Abdoulaye Doucoure. Both clubs have had equal starts but Merseyside teams have struggled away to Forest traditionally and the fact that the club have been able to improve on injuries and fitness since last season is a huge bonus.

A win for Everton would feel like nine points let alone three or six, and in general they have played well on the road, but this is a game that could well finish in equal shares and we will opt for a draw and low scores.
