England Premier League
Saturday 5th November 2022
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: City Ground
Match Preview:
Nottingham Forest followed up their magnificent 1-0 victory over Liverpool by being outclassed by Arsenal and crashing to a 5-0 loss. It would be too easy to criticise that but at the same time having to play both Liverpool and Arsenal consecutively and coming out with 3 points is a victory within itself. Plus of course Arsenal are in 1st place in the league and playing them away from home was always going to be extremely difficult. Home is where it’s at for Forest and that is where their points are going to come from at the end of the day.
However it’s only two wins so far at the City Ground but they have gone their last two games without defeat so that is encouraging, what is not is their current league standing- they are bottom of the league. Victory here could push them out of the bottom three depending on other results around them but the worry is still upfront with just 8 goals scored so far.
Brentford have started the season well and are in 11th place with 15 points however recent form has taken a dip with no wins in their last 3 games. Last weekend they drew 1-1 at home to Wolves and on the road they have earned just 3 points from a possible 18. They have lost their last two away from home against Aston Villa and Newcastle and have conceded 9 goals in those fixtures. However the Bees biggest problem so far has been their number of draws and they have finished their games all square on 50% of occasions.
Team News:
Nottingham Forest: Giulian Biancone has suffered a knee injury and it is bad news for him as results have ruled him out for the season. Jack Colback is still out with a back injury, Moussa Niakhate remains sidelined with a muscle injury and Omar Richards is out with a leg injury and not due back until after the World Cup.
Brentford: Ivan Toney is suspended after pickng up his fifth yellow card of the season. Christian Norgaard has recovered from injury but is only 50/50 to make the team with fitness issues. Aaron Hickey, Pontus Jansson and Thomas Strakosha are all out until after the World Cup.
Nottm Forest vs Brentford Head to Head:
It’s been two years since Brentford last visited the City Ground and that time out they won 3-1.
3 of the last four meetings has ended in under 2.5 goals.
Both teams to score has occurred in 4 of the last six meetings.
Nottm Forest vs Brentford Prediction:
Forest need to get back on track and from a supporter’s point of view one would think this could be a home victory, after all their last home match was a win over Liverpool. Also we need to take into account that Brentford have a poor away record although have that extra season of experience over Forest recently in the Premier League and have come here on many occasions and won. Brentford have proved themselves at times this season although it is a blow to them of course that main forward Ivan Toney missing after his suspension.
This really is a game that can go either way but we will be backing Forest to get the win and expect a close game with much of the battle in midfield. Steve Cooper is still under pressure to keep his job and he will understand that if he can pick up points in the last two games before the World Cup that could go a long way to remaining in charge. He will want to do so because Forest have hinted that they would be happy to spend again in January.
