Nottm Forest vs Aston Villa: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 5th November 2023
Kick off at 2pm GMT
Venue: City Ground

Match Preview:

Nottingham Forest have won just 20% of their games so far and their recent form doesn’t make for easy reading. The club have won just three points from their last 15 which includes three straight draws. Last weekend Forest were easily beaten 3-0 away to Liverpool but that result will not affect the club, indeed they will be happy to have kept the score down to a minimum. The club’s survival will be based on their home form, so let’s take a look at it. So far 60% of Forest’s points have come at home in their last game here they drew 2-2 with Luton. The bad news is that they have won just once at home, the good news is because of all the draws they haven’t lost yet. However Forest have not met a top 8 side yet at home and this is for sure going to be their trickiest home game so far. They have fallen to 16th place heading into this weekend but are five points clear of the danger zone.

While the focus will be on the likes of Tottenham, Arsenal and Manchester City the best in form side currently in the Premier League is Aston Villa. Unai Emery’s side have won 13 points from their last 15 and could well make a splash into the top 4 over the weekend with a win here. Currently Villa are in 5th place and just a point shy of a top four place and only four points behind league leaders Tottenham. Recently Villa have beaten both West Ham and Luton and put seven goals past those clubs. Away from home has seen some stumbling blocks and their last game ended in a 1-1 draw with Wolves but they have already beaten Chelsea on the road and their last six weeks of football has really taken a major positive turn.

Team News:

Nottingham Forest: Chris Wood looks set to miss out with a hamstring injury and is being pencilled in to return next week. Gonzalo Montiel could be assessed as could Felipe and Danilo but all three do remain doubts for this weekend. The following players remain out; Callum Hudson-Odoi, Divock Origi.

Aston Villa: Jhon Duran has a toe injury, he could be assessed but this game may come too soon for him. Alex Moreno looks set to miss out again with his hamstring but could return next week. Jacob Ramsey and Tyrone Mings remain out and Emiliano Buendia is out long term with a knee injury.

Nottm Forest vs Aston Villa Head to Head:

Last season the clubs drew 1-1 in this fixture.

Nottingham Forest have just 1 win over Aston Villa in the last 16 meetings, the last of which came back in 2017.

There is a 60% chance to see over 2.5 goals.

Nottm Forest vs Aston Villa Prediction:

Aston Villa will start as the favourites to win this one and who would go against a team hot on form. Villa need to keep up a certain level and while no one is saying it you get the sense that Emery is gearing his side up to fight for Champions League place. However playing away games in this league is never easy and Forest will pose a threat. Fans of either side are going to remember the epic 5-5 game from a few years ago and while we don’t expect that, we do expect goals.

Forest are almost scoring 2 goals per game at home and have conceded a few overall too and Villa are hot on form for scoring goals themselves. We will back Emery’s side to roll on and keep up the clubs solid record over Forest but this game could have a few twists and turns.
