England Premier League
Saturday 18th September 2021
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Carrow Road
Match Preview:
We are only 4 games into the new season and already Norwich are struggling. They are used of this of course coming up from the Championship a few seasons ago and then being relegated. But was all last seasons hard work in vain? Or can they improve and move up the table?
Norwich are bottom of the league having lost all of their games so far and have scored just once and conceded 11. You couldn’t get much worse but at the same time, against a team like Arsenal from last weekend they were not outplayed and did have chances to equalise eventually losing that game 1-0.
But here is another take, maybe Norwich are in a false position after all they have had to play Manchester City, Liverpool, Leicester and Arsenal. That is quite a run of games and only Arsenal would be seen at this present time as a game they may have got something from, but that match was away from home and was never going to be easy. In short perhaps Daniel Farke and Norwich’s seasons starts this weekend, at home in a game one could see them winning against Watford.
Watford are in 15th place and have amongst the worst form in the league. After starting the campaign with a glowing win over Aston Villa they have went on to lose 3 games in a row. Their latest defeat came at home to a side who were struggling for confidence in Wolves, so this could be a warning sign that not all is buzzing around the club.
The Hornets have played twice away so far losing both games against Brighton and Tottenham respectively although at least the defeat to the Londoners was just by a single goal.
Team News:
Norwich: Joshua Sargent will be assessed after his hamstring injury and Christoph Zimmermann is out with an ankle injury.
Watford: Femenia and Joao Pedro both have fitness issues and could be assessed.
Norwich vs Watford Head to Head:
Last season when this game was played in the Championship Watford won 1-0.
Watford have won the last 4 meetings between the clubs.
Norwich have not beaten Watford in any game since 2016.
There is a 60% chance to see over 2.5 goals.
Norwich vs Watford Prediction
This game will pit the two teams that came up together and it is Watford that have the better recent record over their hosts. Indeed the Hornets did the double over the Canaries last season.
Norwich need to respond though, Watford have been poor since the first weekend but they have at least experienced what it means to win this season, Norwich need that feeling because before they know it they could be in doldrums with no way out by Christmas, we have seen it many times before.
We’re going to go against the latest trend though and back Norwich to get the win. It is a risk which is reflected in the generous price, so we will keep our stakes to a minimum. Striker Teemu Pukki came very close to scoring against Arsenal last weekend and he might be worth backing again. This is an encounter that should be a close one with one incident settling the game, but it is already a big six pointer.

Anytime goalscorer: Teemu Pukki at 2.30
