England Premier League
Saturday 23rd April 2022
Kick off at 3pm BST
Venue: Carrow Road
Match Preview:
Norwich are bottom of the league and are 9 points from safety, and if we count goal difference it is fair to say that we are only waiting for the maths to come into effect which would confirm that the Canaries are relegated.
Dean Smith’s side have claimed a recent draw against Brighton and beaten Burnley, both of those results were real surprises and unexpected but this is a tough league. Last weekend the club lost against Manchester United but put up quite a fight and were unlucky in the end not to claim a draw. They had gone down 2-0 quickly to a brace of Ronaldo goals but had incredibly pulled the game back to 2-2 before Ronaldo to complete his hat trick made it 3-2.
Form for Norwich is not good with just four points from their last 15 and at home it is 10 defeats from 16 and just 3 wins, although their last home game ended in a win against Burnley. Perhaps for Norwich the project has to be smaller now and they certainly will not want to finish bottom of the league, in that they have something to play for and are only one point behind 19th placed Watford.
Newcastle have climbed to 11th place and are bang back on form after winning their last 3 games. The Magpies beat Crystal Palace 1-0 at home in midweek and also beat Leicester last weekend. The club have 40 points and are aiming for 9th place which looks like being their highest possible position this season, not bad going for a club who were in the bottom three at the beginning of the year.
Team News:
Norwich: Joshua Sargent is only 50/50 to return from an ankle injury. Adam Idah, Andrew Omobamidele and Ozan Kabak have all been ruled out for the season.
Newcastle: Ryan Fraser is 50/50 to return from a hamstring injury. Callum Wilson should return by the end of the month from his long injury lay off with a calf injury. Kieran Trippier is still out with his foot injury with no specified return date.

Norwich vs Newcastle Prediction:
While we can sing the praises of Newcastle there should be some caution and that is their away form and let’s remind ourselves that Eddie Howe’s side have lost their last 3. Newcastle clearly has the better team and if the club click they can go on and win well. But let’s not make the mistake of looking at Norwich’s position and don’t think they have a chance here. Yes the club has overall been poor this season that is evident in their league position but they have played some very good football in the last month and in some cases had plain bad luck.
Norwich look down of course but they aren’t yet and they do have something to fight for and are at home, that isn’t the case for Newcastle. Howe’s team have looked slick and confident granted but on the road they still look like a shadow of the team who play at home. Norwich are a great price to win this game and we will be backing them to get at least a draw. Teemi Pukki has scored a few goals for Norwich this season and being at home is a very good price to score during this game and he is worth backing again.
Norwich vs Newcastle Betting Tips:
