Norwich vs Man Utd: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Saturday 11th December 2021
Kick off at 5:30pm GMT
Venue: Carrow Road

Match Preview:

It must be hard on Norwich because in recent weeks without doubt the club had improved but they come into this game bottom of the Premier League. In truth at one point the Canaries could only improve given that they had hit rock bottom. Last week they were easily brushed aside away to Tottenham losing that game 3-0, and that ended a 4 game unbeaten run.

The good news for the club is that even though they are in 20th place, with 10 points, they have the same amount as 18th placed Burnley, so there is still hope and plenty of time to escape the bottom three. The other factor which should be added in is playing Tottenham away and losing shouldn’t be a big deal for the club, they are not going to be picking up points in that way. Many will observe that will be the same case when they play Manchester United this weekend.

Norwich are in bottom place but their current form would put them in sixth and at home it is only one victory so far but just one defeat in their last four. Dean Smith’s side last home game finished in a 0-0 draw with Wolves.

How far can Ralf Rangnick take Manchester United? Already some former players after just 1 game are fawning over him and loving his tactical approach. That gave United victory over Crystal Palace at home though the final score was only 1-0.

United come into this game with no defeats in their last 3 games and that includes two wins on a spin. We have to go back to the end of October though for the clubs last away win which came against Tottenham. The club has currently won 3 games so far on the road from the seven played so far.

Team News:

Norwich: Mathias Normann will miss this game with a pelvic issue. Brandon Williams is ineligible to face his parent club. Christoph Zimmermann is still out with his ankle injury.

Manchester United: Edinson Cavani was due back from his tendon injury but he has had a set back and isn’t expected back for another week. Anthony Martial has a slight knee pain though he could make this game and will be assessed. Raphael Varane is expected back next week also after his hamstring injury. Paul Pogba is still out with a thigh injury.

Norwich vs Man Utd Head to Head:

The last time the clubs played here was in 2020 in the FA Cup and Manchester United won 2-1.

Manchester United have won the last 4 meetings in a row and have won 14 from the last 17 meetings.

Norwich have not beaten Manchester United when at home for 9 years.

There is a 70% chance to see over 2.5 goals.

Norwich vs Man Utd Prediction:

With the array of talent that Manchester United have this should be the perfect 2nd game for Rangnick to get his teeth into. That doesn’t mean that Norwich will offer little but there is clearly a gap between the clubs in every department here and with the new manager in charge we expect to not only see an away victory but a good one for the Red Devils.

Backing an away win might feel short for some punters as they are being quoted at around 1.44. One market to possibly choose here would be how many goals can United find? Under Ole Gunnar Solskjaer even when United went through good moments of form we rarely witnessed United score a lot of goals. The players will want to impress their new manager and we expect they can score a few here and the market is much more open to them doing so.

Cristiano Ronaldo may feel like an obvious choice to score a goal but it is still sometimes rewarding to see a 36 year old prove a lot of his critics wrong, and at a decent price he could be worth taking on.

Norwich vs Man Utd Betting Tips:

Asian handicap (-1 Man Utd) at 1.70

Manchester United to score 2+ goals at 1.53

Anytime goalscorer: Cristiano Ronaldo at 1.80
