England Premier League
Sunday 10th April 2022
Kick off at 2pm BST
Venue: Carrow Road
Match Preview:
Norwich are surely down now, that is the reality of the situation as the club have fallen 10 points from safety. But that doesn’t mean that Dean Smith’s side will give up hope just yet as there is 24 points left on the board but the signs look very bleak for the Canaries.
Form is bleak too and the club have managed just 1 point in their last 15 although they did stop a 4 game losing streak by drawing against Brighton in their last game with that one finishing 0-0. Half of their total points have come at home but with just 9 earned from a possible 45 the club has the 2nd to worst record in the league. It doesn’t help that the Canaries come into this home match having lost their last 3 and we would have to go back to the middle of January for the clubs last home victory which came against Everton.
For Burnley this game is like a cup final and there could be quite a few of them. Indeed there was one in midweek when they faced off against Everton and after facing defeat Sean Dyche’s team came back from 2-1 down to win the game 3-2. It was a result that kept Burnley in the bottom three but a result that gave them a chance of survival at Everton’s expense. Coming into this weekend Burnley were just a point behind Everton but then Everton beat Manchester United on Saturday and Burnley are now facing a 4 point gap, which is why this game is a must win.
Burnley’s form is poor even though they won their last game and they have just 3 points from their last 15. Away from home the club have won just 1 game this came against Brighton in a 3-0 victory but otherwise Dyche’s side have been poor on the road also. With just 12 goals scored on the road only one club (Norwich) has scored less.
Team News:
Norwich: Maximillian Aarons is expected to return for this game after a hamstring injury. Adam Idah (knee) and Ozan Kabak (muscle) are out for the season. Lukas Rupp is looking to return from his hamstring, Joshua Sargent s making good progress with his ankle but looks likely to miss out and return next week. Brandon Williams is ineligible to face his parent club and Andrew Omobamidele looks likely to miss the rest of the season after his back injury.
Burnley: There are no new injuries for the club but Ben Mee (leg), Erik Pieters (knee) and Gundmundsson (calf) are all still out with no fixed return date.
Norwich vs Burnley Head to Head:
The last time the teams played here in 2020 Burnley won 2-0.
Earlier in the season the reverse game finished 0-0.
There is a 60% chance to see under 2.5 goals.
Norwich have not won a league game against Burnley since 2008.
Norwich vs Burnley Prediction:
Norwich look down but this could well be the last roll of the dice for the club and beating a team in the bottom three would help their spirits no end. We expect to see a very close game with few chances and one moment could change a lot. Both sides have been poor this season with small pockets of bright moments.
Burnley have to win this game and they will come out and attack although this could lead to some gaps and one of the best bets here could be to see both teams to score. This is another game that could well end up finishing in a draw but that market might be best served for the half time one.
For value we will pick out one player from each team to score. Teemi Pukki can be dangerous and may fancy his chances against a Burnley defence that has been conceding lately and Wout Weighorst after a bright start but poor showing in recent weeks needs to justify why Burnley bought him in the first place.
Norwich vs Burnley Betting Tips:
Half Time Result: Draw at 2.00
Both teams to score at 1.95
Anytime goalscorer: Teemi Pukki at 3.00
Anytime goalscorer: Wout Weghorst at 2.75
