England Premier League
Saturday 5th March 2022
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: Carrow Road
Match Preview:
Norwich come into this game 5 points from safety and with 12 games left to play a quick glance at the table could make you believe they have a chance of survival. However any one that has followed football closely will believe that Norwich have next to no chance.
But this is a game that will be highly anticipated as we have a team at home who look like going down and Brentford, the visitors who are slowly being sucked into a possible relegation battle. Dean Smith’s side have lost their last 3 game, which has been unfortunate because before then they had put on a mini revival of sorts that included back to back wins and that is no mean feat for a side who have only won 4 times so far this season. Victory here and a Watford defeat would put Norwich into 19th but they would have to hope that Burnley and Everton drop points for their hopes to be revived.
Brentford’s last win came at the beginning of he year and Thomas Frank’s side are really feeling the pressure now. The club have amassed just 1 point in their last five games and that is relegation form in anyone’s book. The Bees are down to 15th place and just 3 points from the bottom three as Leeds, Everton and Burnley are giving chase and raising a very good prospect that Brentford who are playing in the top flight for the first time in 75 years could well go down again.
Away form for Brentford is poor with just two wins so far from 13 games and they have lost their last 5, but facing the bottom team the Bees may find some motivation and this is a huge chance for them to earn 3 points. The club have conceded 11 goals in their last four away games but have had much tougher teams than Norwich, so the question will be can they win just their 3rd away game of the season?
Team News:
Norwich: There are no new injuries for the club but Adam Idah is out for the season with a knee injury and Andrew Omobamidele is out long term with a back injury.
Brentford: Josh Da Silva is suspended for 3 games for his red card vs Newcastle. The Bees have no injuries to report ahead of this game.
Norwich vs Brentford Head to Head:
Last season the teams were both in the Championship and this fixture finished 1-0 to Norwich.
Norwich are unbeaten in the last six meetings between the sides.
5 of the last six meetings has ended in under 2.5 goals.
The last 0-0 between the sides happened 101 years ago.
Norwich vs Brentford Prediction:
This is not a glamour tie but at the same time it is a very important one. If Brentford can break their recent poor form against Norwich and their poor form in the league they will take a giant leap towards safety. If Norwich lose then their relegation will feel complete, but if the Canaries can win it could be game on again for them and there will be serious question marks over Brentford. One could suggest that the visitors would be happy to take a point here but at the same time Norwich wouldn’t and it wouldn’t benefit Brentford too who need to get 3 points against the poorest side in the league with harder fixtures to come.
We expect to see a nervous and tight game in the first half and one that should open up as it goes on and teams decide to take risks. We are going to back the home side in a game that really could go either way.
