Newcastle vs Wolves: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 27th October 2019
Kick off at 2pm GMT
Venue: St. James' Park

Match Preview:

Newcastle come into this match in 18th place and despite some good results like beating Tottenham and Manchester United this has been a campaign full of speed bumps so far by the Magpies.

However the clubs fortunes can change and just one win could see them move up 3-4 places. The club will be relieved to be at home as their away form has been shocking, at least at St James' they have lost just 1 game, the problem is they have won just one also with 2 draws in between. It has been a testing time for the club and manager Steve Bruce remains under pressure, the objective already for the club is not to be relegated.

Wolves have shown some qualities from last season, but remain unpredictable also. Just a few weeks ago they stunned Manchester City by beating them 2-0 at the Etihad and it wouldn’t surprise many if that is City’s only home defeat all season. That was brilliant Wolves, but last weekend was normal Wolves as they could only draw 1-1 at home to Southampton who have looked very average themselves this season.

Away from home Wolves have lost only one match and a win here would easily take the club into the top half of the league. Overall form is good as they have gone their last 4 matches unbeaten and confidence is also rock solid after winning another group game in the Europa League on Thursday.

Team News:

Newcastle: Andy Carroll is ruled out with a groin injury. Isaac Hayden is serving a 3 game suspension after his red card v Leicester. Fabian Schar is out with his knee

Wolves: Pedro Neto is only 50/50 to return for this game following his heel injury

Newcastle vs Wolves Head to Head:

Last season this fixture ended 2-1 to Wolves.

The last two meetings has seen both sides to score.

From the last 4 games played at St. James’ Park Newcastle has just 1 victory over Wolves.

There is a 60% chance to see under 2.5 goals.

Newcastle vs Wolves Prediction:

What we have learned about Newcastle is that they are a team who can raise their game against a top six side, but overall they have struggled against teams near them. Wolves should be more tired after having to play away in Europe, but we don’t think that will affect them against a very average Newcastle side. We will take the risk and back the away side to get a win, as we are not convinced by Newcastle and Steve Bruce at this time, however we will cover the draw for extra safety. For smaller stakes we will back the correct score which always offer great value. It is unclear if Bruce will have the courage to set up his team to attack and this could be the main sticking point for a club that need the 3 points.
