England Premier League
Saturday 30th March 2024
Kick off at 12:30pm GMT
Venue: St. James' Park
Match Preview:
The Premier League returns with this lunchtime kick off which will see West Ham make one of their longest trips of the season as they face off against Newcastle. Eddie Howe’s side have been out of sorts this season compared to the previous campaign but Howe hasn’t been under pressure given the incredible lack of luck he has had with injuries this season, so much so that a European finish is not guaranteed and the club are a staggering 16 points from Champions League qualification a competition they were able to qualify for last season.
Form for Newcastle has been average with 2 wins from their last 5 games but two defeats from their last three with losses against Arsenal and Chelsea. The club's last home game did finish in a good 3-0 victory over Wolves who are a place above them coming into this game. With 40 points to their name so far Newcastle could see both Chelsea and Fulham pose a threat to go past them but a good finish to the season should see Howe’s side make a desperate European lunge. West Ham are four points clear of their hosts and have gone their last four games unbeaten as they come into this clash in 7th place. The Hammers last two games have ended in draws including a disappointing 2-2 match at home to lowly Burnley and in their latest game they managed a 1-1 draw against Aston Villa. West Ham’s last away game finished in victory after they managed to beat Everton 3-1, David Moyes side would go above Manchester United this weekend if United lost their match and the Hammers won here.
Team News:
Newcastle: Harvey Barnes and Valentino Livramento could be in line to make returns and will be assessed. Lewis Miley has suffered a back injury and is only 50/50 to return for this game and looks like he will miss out. Kieran Trippier is battling with a calf injury and could be a doubt, Callum Wilson and Joelinton are both sidelined until May. Nick Pope is about a month away from a return due to his ongoing shoulder injury. Sven Botman is out for the year with a knee injury and Sandro Tonali is suspended for the season.
West Ham: Maxwell Cornet could be assessed but remains a doubt as he recovers from a hamstring injury. Mohammed Kudus has a knee injury from international duty but it isn’t at this time thought to be too serious and he may be assessed. Edson Alvarez is suspended.
Newcastle vs West Ham Head to Head:
Last season this fixture finished 1-1.
Newcastle have avoided defeat in the last 4 meetings however three of those have finished in draws.
The last six meetings in a row has seen both teams to score.
Newcastle vs West Ham Prediction:
Both clubs are very capable of playing good football and that is why both teams to score is a market we will back. It has been almost 3 years since West Ham managed to beat Newcastle is that a turning of a tide, well almost because some of these games have been close. Granted that wasn’t the case last season when Newcastle came to London and put five goals past the Hammers but these games have been closely fought and we expect the same at the weekend. Newcastle it feels are playing with one arm tied behind their backs and yet they have only lost 3 games at home so far and we think this will be a difficult match for West Ham to navigate, at decent odds we will be backing the home side to come through.
Newcastle vs West Ham Betting Tips:
Newcastle to beat West Ham at 1.83
Anytime goalscorer: Alexander Isak at 2.00
