Newcastle vs Fulham: Preview & Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 15th January 2023
Kick off at 2pm GMT
Venue: St. James' Park

Match Preview:

It’s incredible to think that Newcastle have lost just 1 game this season and yet instead of being in the hunt for a surprise league title they in 4th place. That isn’t at all bad, and if the Magpies were to qualify for the Champions League that would be seen as a brilliant feat compared to where they were this time last year which was in the bottom three.

Newcastle have 35 points and would go back into 3rd place on goal difference over Manchester United with what many believe should be an expected win. Newcastle will want to get that winning feeling back as they have drawn their last two games in  a row and both ended 0-0. The first one was a disappointment at home to Leeds however the draw at Arsenal was seen as a result just as good as a win and Eddie Howe’s side became the first team to take points off of Arsenal at the Emirates. At home Newcastle are unbeaten so far at home but would rank in 5th place on home form alone and that is because from their 9 games they have drawn 4.

Fulham are having a superb season and it just got better as they beat their local rivals Chelsea for the first time in 17 years. The Cottagers are flying high in 6th place and have 31 points, they have also won their last 4 games in a row, quite simply this has been a revelation season for the club but how long can the good times last?

On the road Fulham have lost 4 but also won 4 and have won their last two in a row beating Leicester and Crystal Palace. They were also unlucky to lose only 2-1 against Manchester City earlier in the season.

Team News:

Newcastle: Jonjo Shelvey is about a month away from a return with his calf injury. Matt Targett is out with a heel injury.

Fulham: Antonee Robinson is suspended because he has picked up his fifth yellow card of the season. Shane Duffy will be assessed after illness but has a good chance of a return. Neeskens Kebano is out long term with his Achilles.

Newcastle vs Fulham Head to Head:

The last time the clubs played this fixture was back in 2020 and the game finished 1-1.

Earlier in the season in the reverse fixture Newcastle won 4-1.

It’s been 5 years since Fulham have beaten Newcastle.

There is a 70% chance to see under 2.5 goals.

Newcastle vs Fulham Prediction:

Fulham have been impressive and they will get their chances in this game but Newcastle are just on a different level especially with this game being at home. There is a hunger with the team and they have gone their last two league games without scoring. They will have to respect their opponents and we expect to see a very exciting game but will be backing the home side to get the win and some goals too.

Joelinton may not play as the manager is undecided to pick him following his arrest earlier in the week but Miguel Almiron and Callum Wilson should be looked into to get the goals and we expect the home side to get a few. Historically this is an under goals fixture but we don’t see that happening at the weekend, and Newcastle should ease to the 3 points.

Newcastle vs Fulham Betting Tips:
