England Premier League
Saturday 28th December 2019
Kick off at 3pm GMT
Venue: St. James' Park
Match Preview:
Newcastle’s great form came to a thundering halt on Boxing Day when they were stuffed by a rampant Manchester United side, losing 4-1. Manager Steve Bruce will be hoping that his side can put the game to the back of their minds and just stay focused, and it was a game they were leading in, so there is a tiny positive.
The Magpies have been strong at home and have the 7th best home record in the league, losing just 1 game and winning 3 matches from their last 4. Newcastle are unbeaten at home in four months and could climb up one or two places with a win here, and they have still gained 9 points from their last 15.
Everton have had a feel good factor about them since Marco Silva was sacked. First the team rose to the challenge under caretaker manager Duncan Ferguson and on Boxing Day one of the footballing great managers Carlo Ancelotti managed his first game at the club. It was relief to see Everton beat Burnley in the end as the match only ended 1-0 despite Everton controlling the game. However Ancelotti has already made a mark on the team and it was good from a fans point of view to see a direct 4-4-2 formation being laid out. Having two up front will hopefully benefit the club.
So there is a buzz about Everton at the moment and there is no denying that Ancelotti is one of the most decorated managers in the game. Everton have gone 4 games unbeaten and a win here would see the club knocking on the top 10’s door. Away from is poor where the club have lost 6 games from 9 but this appointment may just herald a new era.
Team News:
Newcastle: Paul Dummett is unlikely to feature in this game with an ongoing groin injury but some reports suggest that he could have a late fitness test

There is a 60% chance to see over 2.5 goals.
Newcastle vs Everton Prediction:
There’s no doubt that Everton will have a lot of momentum coming into this game but this will be a very tough trip for the visitors. At the same time Newcastle for all of their good football have lost 2 of their last three games and it is their home form which is keeping them in the mix for the top 10. We can see this match ending all square. We will also back Dominic Calvert-Lewin to get on the score sheet again. Him getting a goal in Ancelotti’s first game in charge thus winning the match will be massive for the player and it is sure that Ancelotti would have given him encouraging words, this will only fuel his confidence. We should see a really interesting game and for all the positives coming out of Everton, Newcastle’s home record has to be respected also, and that's why we feel there is more value in the goals market. Everton's last 5 away games contained 20 goals, and Newcastle's last 5 home games contained 13 goals, therefore the odds on the over goals market could be good value.
