England Premier League

Kick off at 7:30pm BST
Venue: St. James' Park
Match Preview:
Newcastle have lost just once this season and even that was only an injury time defeat away to Liverpool and the club have been very solid this season, however they need to shake the draws out. So far the Magpies have drawn 60% of their games and it has anchored them a little, having said that they come into this match in a European place in sixth position and things certainly look up for them at this point in time.
At the weekend it was another draw a 0-0 against Manchester United away from home, in that respect it was an excellent result for Eddie Howe’s side as they seem to be getting better by every passing week and they should be seen as the favourites to win this game at home. Their last home match ended in a 5-1 victory over Brentford and a win here could see them climb up to 5th place and go past Manchester United if United lose their game against Tottenham.
Everton have slipped in recent weeks losing two games in a row however they have also had tough opponents in Manchester United and Tottenham. Perhaps the gap to United isn’t as big as it was once and perhaps losing that game at home was a disappointment. However the defeat at Tottenham away from home which the club lost 2-0 wasn’t as bad as a result. But Frank Lampard’s team will need to pick themselves up here as they face a third difficult game in a row.
For several weeks Everton held the best defensive record in the Premier League but that now belongs to Newcastle and Everton haven’t always been their best away from home in the past few seasons. However they have won at Southampton and the recent loss to Spurs was the clubs first defeat on the road in four games. Everton are currently in 14th place with 10 points and with so many clubs squeezed together they are just two points away from the bottom three.
Team News:

Newcastle vs Everton Prediction:
The one advantage Everton have is that they won’t be expected to win this game, Newcastle seem like the new force in the league and they have impressed thus far with their ability not to lose games even if they are not playing well. A lot of pace comes through Saint-Maximin for the home side though and he looks like he will miss this game and you get the feeling he would have caused the Toffees a lot of problems.
Everton as ever will be strong and solid and will have chances themselves but recent results away from home against Newcastle have not been good enough and despite one or two key players missing you’d expect Newcastle to have enough quality on the pitch to win this game. Everton need to try and keep the score at 0-0 for as long as possible, but they will also have periods during the game where they need to focus and accept the home side will have the bulk of possession, it could well be a close game but the home side could be set to edge this one.
