Newcastle vs Everton: Preview and Prediction

England Premier League
Sunday 1st November 2020
Kick off at 2pm GMT
Venue: St. James' Park

Match Preview:

Newcastle come into this game in 14th place and yet they have lost just once in their past four games, but draws have really stopped the side progressing. One week they look like a top 10 side and the other like they could be battling relegation and the Magpies will need to find that extra bit of consistency soon.

Last weekend though they did get a decent 1-1 draw at Wolves it was a good recovery game given that they had lost 4-1 at home to Manchester United the week before. At home they have lost 2 of their three games so far with just a victory over Burnley being their only bright moment.

It’s possible that a win could move the club into the top 10 and this will be a very tough fixture for Carlo Ancelotti’s team.

So how will Everton react after their defeat away to Southampton? After such a glorious start can Ancelotti convince his players that the defeat was a one off blip, and that their good form must continue? The disadvantage for Everton is not returning back home and this will be their 2nd consecutive game on the road.

Everton have gone two matches without a win and the club were so out of sorts against the Saints that it will be worrying for fans of the club who have surprised this season by leading the league. That can soon be forgotten with victory here though.

Team News:

Newcastle: Jamaal Lascelles looks like he will miss out with a foot injury. Matthew Longstaff could be back in contention after a lack of match fitness. Jonjo Shelvey has a groin injury and is expected to miss the next four weeks.

Everton: Richarlison is suspended after his red card v Liverpool. Lucas Digne is also suspended after he was sent off last weekend. Seamus Coleman isn’t expected back for another three weeks with a hamstring injury. James Rodriguez is out with an injured testicle.

Newcastle vs Everton Prediction:

Everton need to pick themselves up and they also need to finish a game with 11 men on the field. It has been a problem of late and the gaps left by Richarlison, James, and Digne will be noticed. The club will be relying on the drive of Dominic Calvert Lewin but the worry is that this game could get bogged down into a physical game.

Newcastle will be a tough game for Everton at present and would anyone be surprised if the clubs were to share the spoils? It is always risky but we will back the game to finish in a draw. Everton might be happy to take that because Newcastle will have their chances and be dangerous at home, overall this remains an unpredictable game that the home side will fight hard to get something from in this encounter.
